This is indeed true and I can vouch for the darkening of natural leather welt/sole edges to a beautiful golden/brass hue as well.

There is an entire area of economics, conspicuous consumption, related to what I coined the "Alden effect." Science has gotten in to the debate recently and identified that the purchasing of a luxury status good creates a chemical rush / euphoria. So, yes, we like Aldens, but for those of us with many pairs, we are subconsciously trying to spur and repeat that chemical rush, sort of like a natural chemical addiction.

Another words, this forum is as if a group of heroin addicts sat around and discussed what were the newest cuts to hit the streets and how awesome it made them feel.

Hi, my name is blackboard_knowledge [HI BLACKBOARD_KNOWLEDGE] and I have been addicted to Aldens for five years.

Those Ralph Lauren Saunders are nice. Perhaps I need to revisit Ralph Lauren. I know that EG makes the Purple Label line and that Crockett & Jones makes the UK-made Blue Label line. Who makes RL's Blue Label line made in the US? How is their quality?

Made by Allen Edmonds I believe. Quality should be pretty good.

could any of you give me more info on the Alden Tanker boot? Is this boot essentially the Indy boot with split-toe stitching and a commando sole?

Black reversed welt and Antiqued flat welt.
Somebody asked about the white stitches. They are white to begin with. The usual dark color you see is just due to the final finish, which I stripped for that particular pair.

"Tanker boots" generally are considered split toe boots (with the classic Alden handstitched split toe pattern) either on a Barrie or Trubalance last and on a commando sole. They can be made in cordovan, CXL, suede, etc. I believe Context originally coined the term, but I am not 100% sure of that.

Retailers have sold split toe boots in sleeker lasts (Plaza, Aberdeen), on double leather soles, etc. These boots generally are not called "Tankers." For example, J Gilbert sells a cordovan split toe boot on the Plaza last and with commando soles; however, this boot is usually not called a tanker given the plaza last.

Question - would NST boots with #8 shell on the Plaza last be too formal for denim?

    Thank you.
Oh, the worst thing is using Brasso on lacquered brass. It just strips off the lacquer prematurely.
Uh?Well... isn't it what I have just done????

It will come down to your personal preference.
For me, they work well with dark slim fit jeans. They wouldn't work with boot cut.
    NOTHING works with skinny jeans.

I pulled out the TSM Scotchgrain/8 saddles from storage for the pictures. Guess what I found. Massive blooming. For those who have never seen it:

Anyone with any ideas of where I could find a PTB in color 8, ravello, or whiskey that has a slightly lighter color edge dressing? Maybe something similar to Leffot pre-order?

I guess ravello and whiskey are pretty much impossible to find at this point. I'm a true 10.5 D (10 in barrie).
