I find the Lindrick (and Marlow) to fit slightly more snug than Barrie. For those two models I went TTS. The Gianni I ordered was TTS. It was huge, and went back. It was not available in my Barrie size.

Thanks for the advice. How does the Waterlock sole feel in foul weather? Slippery?

This is a helpful exchange. For those with Cap Toe boots, i'm curious about your experience/preference. I would normally size down on the Barrie just like with the trubalance, but I'm a bit concerned about creasing in the cap toe area. Do folks normally err on the side of a little longer shoe/boot for cap toes to avoid that problem (say, going TTS on a Barrie instead of sizing down)?

I thought I read that if the shoe is too big it will crease in the cap. Not too small. I guess it also depends on the length of the actual cap...

My boots crease in the cap and I couldn't care less. YMMV.

Maiden voyage. After seeing Don's response, I did decide on a light coat of Alden Defender. Glad I did as there were sprinkles today. It definitely did not darken the shoe, which was my primary concern.

I think tilfosi's are the perfect shoe. These aren't quite there yet but hopefully over the next few months they will achieve a similar look and patina.

990, the least favorite among my 3 pairs, worn today due to the rain later

This made me laugh. I still will never understand why Alden will consistently make E widths in most shoes (including rare shell colors), but narrow widths are few and far between. Seems to me that there would be just as many people that need a narrow fitting as there are people that need a wide, especially on a wide-ish last like the Barrie. I guess Alden has done enough research to see that the wides must sell better than the narrows.

Nice boots GooseG. I love the look of a well creased pair of Indy's. CXl?

+1. Laughed as well. I need a C for the Van to fit me properly. Seems there are more Cs in this than in others but still by no means easy to get.

Hey Shawnc, thanks for the compliment. These look to be starting out a bit darker than mine (unless it is just the lighting). They look geat now and will only look better as you wear them. Congrats!

I guess I should invest in some Defender.

Maybe they look around and see more wide people than narrow people!

I wear 10C in Barrie, and it's hit or miss on availability. I wish I could get some of Leathersoul's and others shoes in narrow, but I understand when they order a batch that is not a "preorder" they don't order Cs.
