Very nice Uncle Mac ... Anything you do differently to achieve the lighter patina?

The Marlows are a lighter color in general once you get some of the original waxes off of the shoe. Also adding sunlight to them helps them to glow.

Are those on your feet or did you totally snipe someone else's shoes?

Ha Ha Ha!! Those are mine but they're not in ATL - they're in Indy now. Imagine that...a pair of LHS' in Indy. :)

Just got my Ultimate Indy's back from repair. They're about 1.5 years old and one of the commando heels fell off so I just had them both resoled since it was about time. Went to Willies Shoe Service in Los Angeles, they did a fantastic job.

Hey you with commando sole experience!

Will Alden's low-profile commando sole keep me on my feet on snow and ice? I had Alfred Sargent shoes with 'normal' commando soles once but I had to sell them because snow filled the soles. Eventually I had huge lumps of snow under my heels which made it difficult and extremely dangerous to walk. Since then I've used only Ridgeway rubber soles which work like charm.

Do you think Alden commando soles would have the same problem?

These are just over 3 year old Cigar LWBs, definitely my go-to pair, usually wear them a couple times a week. More comfortable everyday. In need of a mac shine.

Thanks kwhitelaw. Always dropping good knowledge.

Wow, quite the amazing story Sazon. I'm not sure if it's the ravello, the exposed eyelets, or the LWB, but I truly love these shoes. But I find myself saying that with all of your shoes. Thanks for taking the time to share such an interesting story.

I have a few different pair of Alden boots with commando sole and wear them on frequent long walks in the snow and ice in the winter and have never had the problem of snow building up between the lugs or anything like that. While the sole is relatively low profile, the lugs are still pronounced enough and set far enough apart that the building doesn't seem to be an issue.

Rydenfan, great looking Indy boots. I'm going to order my first pair of Indy's this morning. Did you go a half size down from your tts on the trubalance last?

^ FWIW, got my J Crew snuff suede Indys not long ago (w discount coupon) and definitely glad I sized down 1/2 size as recommended. Quite a generous fit but comfortable and I could not have dropped a full size. Hope to maybe post my first pics soon. Love them - very comfortable.

Nice! You will love them. My foot is funky... I am between a bunch of different sizes. I am probably like an 8.25 D/E :) But I wear 8.5D in Grant and Plaza (8E may work better for me as there is a bit of extra length) and 8D in Barrie. My Indy's are an 8D as well. However, they are roomy enough that I wear the Alden Foot Balance insole (ahem ahem) in them. I may have even been able to drop a full size down. With these insoles they are the most comfortable and best fitting pair of shoes I own.

I am thinking about trying Tremont in 9.5E, I wear Barrie 9.5E and have Tremont and Grant shoes and boots in 10E. Thoughts on sizing down in those lasts? I think it is half and half.
