I think he meant to say Hunt Club Clothiers in Downtown Cincinnati. They're the only Alden retailer I know of in Cincinnati.Where is steeple chase? I've been looking for more places to buy real shoes since i've been in Cincy.

My bad. My memories as a kid growing up in Maryland brought back visions of watching steeplechase at the Hunt Club. The actual name of the store is Hunt Club Clothiers. I've never been there, but a couple of months ago, they had a 20-25% off sale on Alden shoes, mainly their black and color 8 shell standard stuff. I think a few on this thread partook in the sale. Hope this helps...

I bought some purple laces from the AE website several weeks ago to support my beloved Ravens as they ventured to New Orleans and football history. I donned my purple laces with black shell PTBs for the game... no pics though.
Any consensus on sizing of the Alden for BB cordovan PTB versus Barrie (it's on the M58 last, right)?
Also, how casually do you think the Alden for BB #8 cap toe blucher can be worn? Since I mainly wear denim and chinos, I think I'd be better off with a cap toe blucher boot than a shoe, but I'd be curious to get some input.
No need to post that. These POV "urinal shots" are bad enough as it is.
I started buying coloured laces modestly with a humble purchase of two pair of Benjos laces at a specialty store here in MPLS. Benjos colours aren't super bright. Richly vibrant is how I would describe them. They have a narrower diameter, which I prefer, closer to your standard Alden laces. Thirty inch laces are expensive, $8-9 a pair, but good quality. Check out their website online. Their also available at Allen Edmonds stores and AE's website. The laces pictured are by "1901". Super bright, as in crazy, fun colours. Available at Nordstroms, online or in store, for about $20 a six pack. Their slightly thicker diameter makes these laces more noticeable, which is a good thing. Don't be afraid to mix it up. As Mac says, "they're shoes, not Rembrandt's". But, you can use colour, subtle or bold, to brighten your sartorial palette. For sure don't forget to get some Marcoliani socks. Their featured prominently in Uncle Mac's and many others posts. The merino wool and nylon blends are sweet. Their cashmere/silk/nylon socks are "OMG" unbelievably sumptuous and expensive. But hey, you just spent how many hundreds of dollars on shoes? People will definitely notice your attention to detail. Dressing up your Alden's with fun socks and laces is far cheaper than buying yet another grail/unicorn coloured shoe or boot.Great look...

No need for me to be snarky.Just trying to provide some context.
Just got my #8 J Crew Cap Toes back from B Nelson to replace the double leather sole with Dainite soles. They did a great job! These will be my new rain shoes. Disappointed when I realized that I did not get shoe trees when I got home.
