My natural CXL Alden Indy boots are breaking in nicely after about 3 months :D

Nice catch Crat. I've never seen a pic of shell shoes and fly fishing gear. Some details please. What kind of fish did you catch on what tackle? It's kind of like president Warren G. Harding fishing in a three-piece suit. Nicely done sir!

I like your boots. They appear to be breaking in nicely. Wear them in good health.

Nice boots MrEsco. I've looked at this one several times, but I really want to get an Indy in a C width, which seems to limit the options to the 405 & 403.

Makes two of us. I've tried the no-iron variety and it just doesn't feel the same as your typical cotton shirt that needs pressed. I've gotten so used to ironing and starching shirts over the years that I've never considered a steamer. Based on a few previous posts, I may investigate this option further.

Its a (small) european pike on fly, well..an 8' streamer. You actually get quite a lot of them here (up to approx. 1 meter) in the Dutch city canals. The bigger ones usually reside in lager rivers and lakes. My fishing buddy and I just grab our bikes and cruise through the city fishing the promising spots like under bridges and near sluice gates so we don't really worry about 'fishing outfits'. 'Street fishing' is becoming quite popular.

I just found out that I will be in Chicago for the upcoming weekend and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for Alden shopping? My wife and I have been there once or twice but we are far from experts. The last time I was there was years ago and I had net yet been afflicted with the 'Alden flu'. Surprisingly a google search returned mixed results.

    Any suggestions are certainly appreciated.

The color 8 NST boot on the plaza from JGilbert is one of the finest Alden makes, IMO.

    +100

I find non-iron dress shirts less breathable and less comfortable, and, for those of us with skin on the sensitive side, downright itchy.

The only non-iron dress shirts that are even close to bearable, for me, are those in BB's luxury line (retail for 185 or so). I have between 55 and 65 fitted dress shirts from various makers. No more than 5 are of the non iron variety. I don't even consider them. Count me among the guilty.

But apparently they have many fans as they seem to sell rather well. To each their own.

sorry to post more questions, but I'm looking at placing an order and I'd like to know:

    1. Is the Indy 405 the "original model" of the indy boot, and is there any difference from the 403 aside from the leathers used (ie, same fit and last)?
    2. Is there any reason why need supply wouldn't state "made in USA" on their product pages like they do for Wolverine? I'm pretty new to Alden, but I'm also quite positive that their products are ONLY made in the USA.

Thank you in advance! Looking forward to picking up a pair.

If I wear a 9.5D on the Barrie last for Alden Indy boots, would I wear the exact same size for Alden shoes (also on the Barrie last)? Are there any other common shoe lasts worth comparing to the Barrie for sizing? I feel like I'm asking a stupid question, but I typically wear a 10D in other boots and a 10.5D for Allen Edmonds shoes, so I figured I'd ask.

+1. I love this boot! Can't wait for the weather to turn to put it back in rotation … it's gonna be like 99° at work tomorrow :(
