First, I want to say sorry for bringing this up again - but does anyone know where you can get a clear|natural edge trim finish? i'm going to try a DIY natural edge trim on a old pair of AEs.

Also if anyone has a tutorial on a good approach - that woudl be great (tried to find it by searching but there are way too many post to go through)

    thanks

Thanks. I got two pairs to ensure happiness and fit before spending an embarrassing amount of money on socks.

Here's my second pair. With a pair of AE Highway 1 driving mocs. I will wear and post Alden's tomorrow! :)

I think I have asked this before, but what is the best place (either brick and mortar or online) to find a wide variety of Marcoliani for sale?

What other socks do you guys recommend, and where can I buy them? I like my J Crew collection but its time for an upgrade.

Factory seconds unlined PTB's arrived and I found the flaw. It's on the inside of the left shoe .. I haven't taken it out to see it in natural light, but I don't think it's terrible. However, I'm not sure what this stain will look like as the color begins to lighten from exposure.

Any thoughts before I commit to keeping them?

Keep them. "They're shoes not Rembrandt's". I've got to thank Uncle Mac for that quote. I use it all the time, replacing the word "shoes" with any inanimate object. Didn't you start your post with the words "factory seconds"? Everybody on this thread who has a pair seems to love them.

I've just tried socks from Bresciani and have been very happy with them. At the moment Mr. Porter has a sale that allowed me to pick up two pair of OTC argyles at $19.50 each, here's the link http://www.mrporter.com/Shop/Sale/Designers/Bresciani. I've yet to try Marcoliani's, but if they are Uncle's choice the must be good. For years my source has been Brooks Brothers and I'm still very pleased with their argyles. The Bresciani's are a much lighter weight and I imagine I'll wear them a lot this summer.

I have both and find the quality on the Marcoliani to be superior to the Bresciani - mine are all Merino and not cotton though.

Keep them. No one will ever notice that when you are wearing them and you will have a hard time getting a better price on what are otherwise brand new cordovan shoes.

    Are these the unlined PTBs?

I think you will be pleasantly surprised how well the Marino breathes. It is my preference all year round!
