sorry to burst your bubble, but i don't think that's the shoemart PT indy. the indy has a seam running across the side:

the modified PTB doesn't, and looks an AWFUL lot like the bad-ass pic you posted:

Natty chromexcel seems so hit or miss, not only from style to style but from pair to pair... The longwings, chukkas and PT boots can look good but really depends on the particular pair. Risky leather IMO

^^Very much agree, although I'm not sure if "risky" is the way I would put it.

The first and second runs of the Unionmade Sloat boots look quite different, although undoubtedly most of this difference should perhaps be chalked up to the photos. That said, a lot of the recent natty cxl seems to have an almost burnished look.

To those of you with Shell Indy's in a size 11 D, whats the length of the outsole and insole on your Indys? I have an 11.5 D in Barrie and I've got some heel slippage and about 0.6" of room in the toe box. I'm in the market for a used Shell Indy but all I can find are 11's, which I think may be a good idea considering my size issues in an 11.5 Barrie. I would just sort this out by trying out an 11 in trubalance, but there are none at the dealers around me. Thanks.

Outstanding saddles! Color 4 looks great as an alternative to #8 in this combination.

I'm with OXY on this one. The modified last looks very awkward to me from most angles. If I catch it straight on, it looks OK, but really quite peculiar otherwise. Even if that last fit my foot properly I would have a tough time getting past the shape. Having said that, the modified last has its fans and appears to be a blessing to the Japanese.

Ha sorry man. I too have been jealous of many on this forum for capturing exclusive make-ups. (4x4, #4 and black shell saddle blucher, unlined PTB, whiskey captoe bal)
I just got lucky on this one.

    quick question about fit:

just got a pair of longwings (barrie last), everything seems to fit (besides mild heel slippage), my question is about length -I've got something like 1-1.5 inches of space beyond my toes, is this the correct fit? or do I want my big toe to come closer to the end. Also should the shoes crease pretty much immediately?

Your fit question wont get an exact answer but most alden guys are more concerned more with having the widest part of the foot line up with the widest part of the shoe. The space from the end of your toes to the end of the shoe could vary.

Your heel slippage could also be there bacuse you have yet to break in your double leather sole.

If you have mad creasing (assuming you have shell cordovan) this could be because, as some peolple say, you have the wrong fit...

This seems like a normal fit, though you may want to consider an E in a half size shorter
