Are you an admin? If not, you are opining.

Here's my opinion: if someone is selling a sweet pair of Aldens, it is a courtesy rather than a distraction to give a head's up to a classified for said sweet Aldens. Plus, most likely, these posts have pictures. And posts with pictures are far more fun than questions about sizing (oh, there I go opining again).

    Hell, why not:

for that kind of money, and with that kind of shoe in mind, I'd go with Rancourt.
primarily because they're unlined (and they make handsewn loafers for many other companies)

People have been fined / temp banned for doing this in the Common Projects thread. People can keep posting but pretty soon an admin will come in here and ban / fine the next person that does it. Honestly you have your sig that's what the space is for.

The J. Crew ones posted as new are clearance center / outlet purchases (have the black mark). Others may be trying to flip for small profits since J. Crew codes of 15-30% off worked on Aldens online until December or so. J. Crew also gave money back to some people who complained about random issues (seller with bigger feet posting here recently) and are also making profit. Not really a unfair / bad thing as people value the shoes with their own valuation but that's a potential reason why there are so many J. Crew models.

If you're serious about wanting to purchase your first pair of Aldens and want to keep it around $300-400, call the Shoe Mart and ask them to e-mail you their list of seconds (irregulars) in your size. Chances are you can find a nice pair of shell cordovan black or color 8 Longwing bluchers (LWBs) or plain toe bluchers (PTBs) for $399, or similar calf versions for $299. Good luck!

Would PTB's and Longwings be a good shoe with chinos/Kakis?

Another good idea...i filled out the online form for the list but apparently that is unreliable, so I will give them a call tomorrow. Hopefully I can get lucky!

I have found some great deals on ebay, but sometimes you have to wait a little. Good luck and know your sizes.

if you can get a hold of Mark ask him for details about whatever shoe on the 2nds list that you have in mind to purchase. I've had good luck with minimal, sometimes nonexistent, defects, but others have had problems and would say 2nds are more trouble than they're worth...
