I have the same size in both and there is no heel slip. The Trubalance is actually wider in the heel than Barrie but you don't notice the difference if it's a boot.

That Alden last guide was created by REguy a fellow forum mate, not Moulded Shoe. REguy created that guide about a year to a year and a half ago on this very forum.

Reguy for sure. He did what Alden or Alden's retailers could not - simplify and demystify the labyrinth of lasts and their fit relative to one another. Reguy for CNN's person of the year

+1, that's why I was praying my suede ptb's didn't come in a barrie last. Luckily they are indeed on the Leydon

True that NAMOR! Many thanks to REguy & all the fellow thread mates that added their input to create that Alden last chart.

Thanks for clarifying the source on the last guide. I shouldn't be surprised that it came from an SF member. You guys are on top of things. My thanks as well to REguy. I will edit the previous post to reflect the source attribution.

Curious as to what % (or ratio) everyone's shoe inventory consists of Alden?

It may be general knowledge already, but Brooks Brothers is having a sale this weekend --- spend over $500 and get $100 off. I picked up a pair of unlined LHS in Color 8 for $498.

Dumb question, is there any difference between the Jcrew Alden Cordovan Chukka (dark burgandy, is that the color 8?) and the "normal" Alden one color 8?

No, there is no difference its the stock #8 chukka that most retailers carry.

A little less than half (about 10 pairs total). I don't see myself buying another pair of Alden for a long time. I do want a pair of Snuff Chukkas, but I can wait for that.

Other makes consist of Carmina, C&J, Tricker's, and Alfred Sargent.

About half. I keep a pretty meager collection of shoes...

Alden x j crew shell cordovan #8 longwings
Alden x j crew waxed tan longwings
    Alden cordovan pebble grain boots
    Alden natural plain-toe shoes
(just got rid of a pair of alden x leffot navy nubuck brogue boots)

    F+B taupe nubuck 745 boots
    F+B dark brown Bolan workboots
White's semi-dress boots in tan & distressed tan roughout
Wolverine 1000 mile boots in black (pretty banged-up - my go-tos for yard work)
Florsheim x duckie brown suede (can't even remember the last time I wore these tho... want to replace with a pair of Aldens)

Number9dream - Thanks for the tip regarding the Brooks Brothers sale. I put in an order for a pair of LHS color 8's as well. With tax it was a bit more than you said but still a good deal.

The code is SPWE12 and it's good for
    $200 off $800
    $100 off $500
    $50 off $300
