I don't think you are over reacting, but it seems that the quality control lately has been lacking. Not so much with Alden, but I've noticed it with AE and C&J. Everything I get now seems to have something along those lines and I usually just brush it out. You can always send the pictures to the retailer and they may give you a small partial refund or offer to swap them out.

For better or for worse, while I wouldn't be thrilled to find those issues with an expensive new pairs of boots, this sort of thing is very common. And while I might be missing something, I personally would keep and be ok with them - at least based on what I have noticed. I think you can brush out most of this with little or no lasting problems. Btw, nice boots...

The marks on the toe box might go away with time (if it is just missing coating or a small scratch on the coating) but I will have to brush and polish a new pair of boots to see if in fact is something like that, but if it is not after brushing and polishing I will be on my own. Also the mark on the side is an indentation on the leather that it appeared to be done by a press or some other manufacturing equipment, that one is not going anywhere with brushing and polishing. Hoping to hear back from the retailer.

It's not super super rare horse butt, but these gunboats saw some good use yesterday. It's funny how much lighter they are than my cordovan 975s.

I have located several pre-order lists at Brogueshop.com and another at Standard and Strange. These worked out well and I ordered shoes from both, one shell and one calf. Can anyone suggest any other dealers that have listed upcoming make up orders that are still open? I am looking for shoe options as opposed to boots. Many thanks, especially for any links.
