Why don't you buy a Crockett & Jones Harlech in brown cordovan?
They're about $680 + shipping from the UK.
Or a brown cordovan Skye for around $700 + shipping.

They're both stock models this season.
Exchange rates are insane right now.
Reap the benefit while you can.

Your boots are both looking superb Iron.

Your Alden Choco Chukkas are looking superb Don and look like they suit you very well.

@mraza I am sorry to see your discontent with the welt lines. I will re-iterate what many others here have stated. Alden makes a fantastic shoe, but their welt lines are very frequently not clean like the pair that you received. You could probably walk through my closet and see a large number of those kinds of welts.

Superb @shoetree , those Cigar Chukka Boots look absolutely superb.

Those look great to me, can't see the imperfection at all from here! Not too different than what everyone else will see! :)

Great looking Tanker today and glad that you are enjoying your boots!

Could anyone share thoughts or preferences on the V-tip blucher vs the NST blucher? I am considering one of these in color 8 but am uncertain about which way to go.

The NST's hand stitching, in my opinion, is the reason I would choose it over the V-tip. It just adds a more personal touch to each and every shoe.

I think the v-tip is a little more formal. Personally I prefer the NST.

Yeah, it is what it is. I do appreciate how other makers like Carmina and Bonafe finish the welt join over with wax polish to smooth it out. Not perfect, but very presentable:

I love that boot. My favorite Alden shell cordovan boot.

Does anyone have recommendations on who would be able to install metal eyelets in my boot?

Off the top of my head:

    B. Nelson will do it for $5 per eyelet.
Randy the Cobbler is well known for this service as well.
You might also try AH One shoes in VA.
The Brogue Shop in Menlo Park, CA, used to do Alden customizations. You can contact them to ask.

    Hello,

I bought these shoes pre-owned. Only advertised as leather. I wonder if you can answer these questions. [IMG]

Can you tell from the model # if it is calfskin or shell ? Also although 9BD is my exact size. I do now know that the last makes a huge difference. So the next question how much can they stretch in width? Is this Cigar color ? Sorry for all the questions....As I mentioned in other posts unfortunately the modified last is the best fit.
