Thanks, yeah I like round laces better than the flat ones with this boot.

Couldn't agree more. Hand stitching is out of place on a work boot. Fine for other styles.

I disagree .. Go Red Wing then.. The hand stitching is artisan and belongs on these fine boots. My humble 2 cents..

This debate pops up periodically, but I am not sure $800 cordovan boots quality as true "work boots." I view most Indy boots as stylish, casual boots. zipphy's black, machine stitched version looks very nice and clean. I prefer hand stitched on the cigar and color 8 versions, but to each his own.

As much as everyone here loves Alden's, a cordovan Indy boot is far from a workboot.
I also am a fan of the handstitch. It's a piece of craftsmanship not typically found on 7-800 American made footwear.
I understand the machine stich appeal and also like it in certain makeups too.

Zippyh has an incredible collection. I would take those machine stitched jet black shell Indys all day long. Absolutely no dissing my man Zipphy.. They are all great boots and shoes here. I was remembering back in the old days when Bro Bro Tassels were all hand stitched, now by machine, lost some of the contrast and hence appeal for me. I like the old I guess

Your Color 8 Alt Wiens are looking superb. Looking great with the brown trousers and CHUP socks.

Congratulations on your new Cigar Chukka Boots. Those are beautiful. Enjoy them!

Terrific to see your Color 8 WT Boots. Its interesting to see how a little wear and light exposure has impacted them. I assume that they were both approximately the same at start.

We will forgive you this time Steve, but don't make this a habit. ;-) They are looking beautiful!

Ha, I think that the Machine Stitching is an interesting variant and is now very unique because Alden will not currently do Machine Stitching on Cordovan makeups. I do personally appreciate the hand stitching and the vibe that it exudes, but it would be cool to have a pair with the cleaner looking Machine Stitching like Zip's.

Now are those moc-toe stitches done by hand or machine? I think they look great, in any case!

I got my Snuff Suede LHS Loafers from a forum member PROFLIGATE47. They look great and they are super comfortable!

I think the fit is correct. I got a 10.5D in these (note these are Van last). I am a 10D in a Barrie Last shoe. There's so much variance in shoes for me and the different lasts. I think loafers can be less forgiving. I snapped some photos.

I think they fit good and offer a lot of comfort the upper foot. My left foot is smaller than the right. The right fits great. There is minimum slippage if say I'm going up stairs but for the most part they are on my foot. They don't slip off like my Rancourt Beefrolls which are unwearable for me without thick socks.

Thing is I have thin feet :) Especially close to the heel. I tried on some of these in a Tan color when I was in Austin a few weeks ago with thin socks. The 10D was tight on me and the salesman even put me on the Brannock (which I am a 12 on that *shrug*). The guy helped me out a lot.

Profilgate47 said he wore these a few times so I'd imagine they have stretched. I'm just so damn particular and I guess I'm wrong in comparing the fit to a lace up. I like them and they are beautiful. I just can get picky about the fit, which I should. I'm assuming that loafers are for, well 'loafing' and some minor slipping is OK?

Actually with the right no-show socks they seem to be a solid fit.

They look to be too big except in the last pic. If you're a 10D in Barrie then you likely need a 10D or possibly a narrower width 10. Sorry.

Try a very thin insole if you are up to it.

I just purchased a new pair of Snuff Suede Chukkas, and I am very happy with the fit and color of these shoes. Wanting to take good care of them, I bought some Tarrago Nano Suede protector at the recommendation of several online. However, this spray has definitely darkened the Snuff color which bothers me (it has now dried for 12 hours). Had I known this, I would have avoided the spray altogether. Is there anyway to bring back the original color?

It will lighten. Give it a little time.

cant help with trying to lighten, can only say that my snuff dovers did not experiment any darkening from tarrago (or did and lightened back without me knowing)
