To the OP, relax, you're doing fine. Forex is a gamble, but it's not as risky as speculating in precious metals or random stocks. Like anything else, preparation and study is key.

Pay no heed to the city snobs here. Dallas has its faults, but it's not "third tier." The LNS douchebag from DC is especially lulsey. I had to spend six months in DC and thought it was a shithole. Great museums and decent food, but it's also ghetto as hell. It's in the middle of gentrification, but people used to make fun of it for all the violent crime and the fact that they willingly elected a crackhead for mayor. That and it's dominated by ass kissing lobbyists and lawyers that give handjobs for party invites. Real classy place.

Miami's got some beautiful areas but even bigger shitholes. I never met a single person from Miami that wasn't a big ego fuckhead, including one Haitian faggot that thought he was brilliant because he had a degree in small business management from FSU and reads The Economist. And did I mention the snobby Jews? Tampa is known for their strippers, not Miami. If it weren't for coke, nobody would even care about the place.

You should be able to save a lot more this year, since you got a $20k pay raise. You could bank it all (extra $14k in cash) Stick it out for another year, and you'd have $65k in cash next Xmas. That would put you above 90% of the people who post here. (Look rich, instead of be rich) However, if you're like most people, you'll just spend more on things like a new car and better apt. Otherwise, you could have a nice nestegg by age 30.

    End of 2011: $35k
    2012: $65k
    2013: $105k
    2014: $140k
This doesn't count future raises, investment appreciation/decline of existing assets or investment income.

Ding, ding, ding - we have a winner. Miami is a South American, 3rd-world transplant right here in our own backyard. ps it's spreading north at a phenomenal rate, that entire southern half of the state of Florida - I live in Orlando - is becoming a 3rd world slum. And before the anti-hate-haters bag me for it, it has zero to do with ethnicity and everything to do with culture - so fuck off.

Don't know if this is still true, but back in the day it most certainly was. If you wanted to par-tae and weren't rolling like a drug kingpin, Tampa was the spot not Mijami.

OP you are doing fine but as you have said it is time for you to move your money into securities/investments. As everyone has already given some solid advice, let me talk about Forex as it seems you are interested in moving some funds into the FX market.

Forex is a good market to consider actually contrary to this forum sentiment. The only reason why they say it's risky is because of over leveraging.

Everything has it's risks but what matters is how you manage them. Forex and futures market should not be written off but you need to do a lot of research and learning. It's a market that goes against logic at times but in essence once you get the gist of the way the market behaves it's a very profitable market especially in volatile times such as the current crisis happening in Europe.

Just practice good money management and don't fight against the market or speculate. Rather just follow and react to the market movements, always put stop losses.

As another member said, prepare to devote a lot of your time and energy if you want to succeed in FX. I know I had to spend 1 year or so to research, analyze and practice before I became steadily profitable.

    >$20/day on food seems like a lot, especially in Texas. If this also includes social dinners and dates, the budget is reasonable. >$10/day for lunch is a bit absurd.

I would recommend trying to prepare a few meals at home and using the difference in savings for travel or recreation. I allot a similar food budget ($20/day) though I buy most of our groceries and prepare a meal that I split with the girlfriend at least three nights week. In addition to food, the above budget also covers most incidental household sundries (e.g. TP, paper towels, sandwich bags, detergent, cleaning supplies, etc.)

Ironically, our secretary probably spends more on smoke per year than your entire weed & stripper budget.

You guys are getting ripped off, come to the Cabaret Club in Brisbane, $5 per dance which includes touching boobs/ass. If it's too early for strippers go to the Grosvener hotel which has $5 hamburgers/steaks and topless waitresses. This is no low-budget slapper fest either, the girls are good sorts.

If you want to become financially successful, it's important to find low cost ways of having a good time.

They're very PC in Toronto now..

Strippers have to ask you first now if it is ok for them to suck your cock or touch their tits.
