    I's agin' it.

Seriously, though, unless they're sterilizing their equipment before they cut your grass (and they're not, trust me), their tools are covered with weed seeds, disease spores, and pests of every sort.

Why does she have to manage bags?

Unless you've got 10 pets and a skin condition...my miele bags last for quite a while (and I have the compact model). It isn't like bagless units where you might want to empty them after every cleaning.
And, do you never vacuum outside of scheduled cleanings? Replacing the bags seems like something that would fall on the resident...and even if not, they are in the same closet as the vacuum. If she can't figure that out, she probably shouldn't be a professional cleaner.

God I wish I could talk Mrs. Piob into a house cleaner. Until then, central vac ftw.

I was just thinking about this... my wife travels about once a month. Maybe I could just hire the cleaning lady to come on one of the days she's gone. Then I get all the credit for cleaning while she's gone.

She doesn't want to manage 10 or 20 different vacs belonging to different people. People run out of bags, and vacs all perform differently. Her view is that it's just easier to work with 1 vac.

No, I'm smart. As I've posted several times her fear is one of the cats is let out by the housekeeping service and lost. Is it really worth risking a lifetime of being the cause of that vs. helping out with the housework a bit?

Mrs. BC only travels for two or three days at a time: I'm not 18 anymore.

re vacuum cleaners: Fuck Dyson in the eyehole. I can't wait for that overpriced piece of shit to die so that I can get a real machine. This is what happens when my wife makes gear decisions without consulting me.

Are they that bad? I purchased one almost 10 years ago when I was 25 and it's still going strong. I've only washed the HEPA filter maybe twice (which reminds me I should probably wash it or replace it).
