I've been staring at this for months, trying to justify buying a coat that I wouldn't be able to fit a jacket underneath

It's August and we're creeping into fall with the formal season not too far behind. If you don't have a tux and think you might need one, jrd has a selection nice, classic Canali's priced very reasonably.

Don't be like me - about 3 years ago the boss invites me to a black-tie charity event with about 2 weeks notice and I had to scramble to get something and paid a lot more than I wanted to. Since then I've had the opportunity to use it a handful of other times and it's been great knowing I've already got it in the stable and ready to go.

I can commiserate with this seller - sounds like they bought this jacket on final sale hoping the sizing would work, but it doesn't. They bought a Boglioli in EU50 but it fits more like a EU48; Boglioli has been cutting slim, super slim, for at least the past couple of years.

Still, nice jacket at a great price for the right person.

    hi, razl

    i notice you say you're in 9

in my experience, 0.5 size smaller is not a problem if you like ‘wrapped' by your gloves

and you can remove the cashmere lining if really too tight[IMG]

i have seek for a peccary glove,at good price of course, over one year. sigh

Thanks for the info, appreciated. I'm actually a 9.25 - if I was a flat out 9, I'd probably gamble. Trust me, I've looked at these over and over and keep wrestling with the same numbers ;)

    Time for accessories.

First, for us mere mortals, some plain white, pocket squares. I realized last year that, while on the SF train, I had neglected to ever pick up any plain white squares. I grabbed a couple of these from deveandepot1's pile of old stock and couldn't be happier. Great quality, and just enough self texture to make them interesting.

If you email Madova in Florence, you can get them for 99Euros plus shipping (but minus VAT). About as good as you get. Alternatively, you can get them for under $250 from www.nomanwalksalone.com. I think that for gloves, a good return policy is a good idea. This is esepcially true of the hand sewn gloves, which can vary a fair bit between different pairs. Not only that but the ratio of lengths of a person's hand varies greatly between different people. And at least for me, the fit of gloves is more important than the fit of shoes, because of the whole opposable thumb thing.

Everything discussed in Noodleland qualifies as a saga/adventure/epic. Yes, even the plumbing discussion.
