You can drink whenever but the party doesn't start until everyone comes out and starts bbq'ing.

You would need a floating grill if you wanted to go out grilling in the lower east side.

Where are you? I heard the blackout is below 39th street.

The windows on my apartment were creaking from the winds. Fortunately the creaking has stopped. *whew*

black outs and underwater areas are mostly on the east side. tribeca's out too. battery park's holding up well. most of the buildings here seem to still have power as far as i can see. not much in the way of flooding here too.

uhm... just to share with you guys... one of the biggest concern in our parts during floods is the possibility of contracting something nasty like leptospirosis when wading through flood water. stay safe.

I'm not an expert - but I did have 2 dogs die from lepto earlier this year. I think it's a little cold for lepto right now.

We've got some big waves coming in here in chicago...but I'm not that impressed.
I've seen scarier looking waves leading up to many winter storms and they had plenty of notice to close the lakefront so all of the cool spots are barricaded and taped off...

Wish I could go join those idiots who are surfing/windsurfing out there!

This is a big deal but not nearly as big a deal as other very bad things that could happen and I have to say, lots of people are not handling it well. And for many the hardship is very great to be sure but if something really massivel disruptive happens, this experience makes me wonder how long it would be before society collapses.
