As an avid user for two years of this incredible little service, I feel a need to share the good news! [IMG]
http://www.ajc.com/business/free-mus...e-1002177.html I'm of the understanding that this is a long time coming, and that a few competitors have beat them to it, so it will be interesting to see if they are able to grab some market shares in the US.... Here is a great I found, if someone would like an introduction:

Now that they've launched, I guess some want to try it out before they buy a subscription. I have a couple of invites left from when Spotify was launching in Europe, so send me a PM and I'll give you an invite as long as I have any left.

You can try it out without a subscription. Just use a UK based proxy and sign up for a UK account, then go back to https://www.spotify.com/us/about/what/ and sign in and edit your profile to be US instead of UK.

^ That's not recommended, as you'll get the capping system which exists on the free service in the UK but not in the US (as of yet). Invited USers dodge the capping.

    ^^^

Good point. I have a 20 hr limit on my UK to US Spotify account. Hopefully, my request for an invite allows me to create another one. Either way, it doesn't matter as a) the unlimited will go away and b) if I really plan on using this, it'll be via my phone which will require me to pay anyway.

A bit over rated, but still useful.

A lot of classics are on there and all the "popular" stuff as well. Its missing some indie bands and some big time oldies.

    What I found missing:

    - Beatles - All their Albums
    - A few Albums from the Clash
    - The Format - Dog Problems
    - Fun. - Aim & Ignite
    - Lydia - All their Albums
    - Childish Gambino - All their Albums
    - Pixie Lott - Turn it Up
    - Various Paul McCartney / WIngs Albums

I figured I can keep the music that is missing and that I listen to often on my laptop, and all the baggage music that I don't listen to too often but love going back to once in a while in Spotify.

How is spotify any better than grooveshark? I got invited to start an account on spotify but it doesn't work on my office network. Grooveshark does so I'll just stick with them.

I signed up on Spotify's website and got my invite a few days ago. Pretty neat. In addition to hearing songs on demand, I can use Spotify to listen to the CDs I imported through iTunes.

I really don't understand the Facebook-thing from two perspectives:

    1. Why do they have it as a prerequisite? Pressure from fb to be able to integrate with them?

    2. What's the problem with setting up a single noname account on Facebook? Out of principal, or what?

Pretty much. My lines may be arbitrary but there's one drawn in front of fb.
