The guy is a twat ...

Not a leader and Zidane is an idiot to respond to his taunts...

Zidane was world class ,Materazzi wasn't ..

In the world cup he took his performance to another level. He belonged there next to canna as one of the best players in Italy and I have to say that confidence boost made his performances for inter much better for like 2 years after the wc... He might be extra violent on the pitch but believe it or not he is a family man and a gentleman off the pitch

He was a good player like many others..

    A great player, not really..

If he was that highly regarded and famous ,he will not be walking like that having his picture taken in Paris..

    Nobody recognized him..

I was never a Materazzi fan, but I will give him his due in that he played the best football of his career for 6 games in the summer of 2006. Scored two goals in the tourney, converted his PK what more do you want? Got a Red Card against Australia, but the referee got suckered as no contact occurred and I think Materazzi's reputation got him the red.

How that would stack against others, hard to say but if his whole career could have been that good he would have been a legend. Overall career was decent but no more than that.

Who saw Joey Barton interviewed after Marseille game - speaking w/ a corny faux French/Italo accent (sorta like Madonna would affect a British one)?

Saw this yesterday. Brilliant. Never much liked Barton, but I certainly like him a little more now.

This is ridiculous. I love it. He even appears to struggle at times to find English words, as if he speaks native Portuguese and is not yet fluent in a new language.

He is so less hateable now.

But he will do something that will make him hateable soon enough.

    seems kinda bizarre

    UEFA exploring 64-team competition

scrap uefa cup / europa league, throw everyone into a giant competition. 7 epl teams would be in there to fail

because that's exactly what i want to watch, birmingham vs barca

They should leave it the way it is, except let the prize for the Europe League being automatic qualification to the CL. That would make teams take it a lot more seriously.

A name change would have to be in the works, the term Champion's League is not really accurate today for that matter and it would only get worse.

Hey, how about the UEFA Cup??.....what's old is new as they say.

eff UEFA and their expanding ways. Isn't the next Euro gonna grow to 24 teams too? At some point these things lose a bit of meaning if everyone gets in...
