It's a vegetable tanned leather from Sweden. It has a natural grain. This is the picture of if:

The above is the exact boot we are getting from Carmina on Friday. It's fur lined.

Here's a small piece I wrote about the Tärnsjö Tannery a while back:

Got so much nice stuff coming through in suede for you guys this coming season from Carmina. A completely new suede color from Carmina as an example.

Not bad, a little less than the cordovan up charge. So about 10,440 SEK (about $1387) exluding VAT, without trees? It might be a tough GMTO sell i suppose... :(

On the other hand, an Arran GMTO in a standard leather would be about 7440 SEK (about $988) excluding VAT, without trees (hope my numbers are correct @Leaves ). That is quite reasonable for a GMTO.

A new color for Carmina, or a new color that the universe has never seen? Either way, I'm excited and my wallet is going back to its therapist.

Technically a Plain Toe Balmoral is more conservative than a cap toe oxford.

Are you referring to any of the stock you are receiving this weekend? I am close to purchasing the suede bal boot from leatherfoot, but would be open to looking at other things if they are coming in soon (this weekend). With the recent rain in San Francisco, I'm looking for a non-leather sole.

I didn't know that. What are the historic reasons behind that?
