Yes, I do remember seeing those pics of your recrafted shoes. I guess I was hoping aportnoy would show up and post pics of recrafted EGs. Also, It'd be awesome if Imakeyourshoes somehow posted a photoessay of a typical Northampton recraft...

Why would Aportnoy ever need to recraft a shoe?

I realized that it didn't make any sense as soon as I submitted the post. As much as he is a collector of fine footwear, I believe he is a habitual flip flop wearer.

NO WAY! AlanC, am I correct in thinking that the Trads endorse recrafting due to their thrifty nature as well as for aesthetic reasons?

The crash was provoked to bury evidence.

I get these shoes from the Bay. Can any of you gentleman help me with info about the maker? The insole reads Hegarty Shoes, Market of Kettering, England.

I suppose so. I don't know that 'Trads' are the only ones who advocate it. Isn't that part of the purpose of a quality welted shoe?

Link please, or lost in the crash?

Don't have the link. Could be lost. It was more of an experiment type thing.

That's exactly it. A lot of people do advocate it, yet there seems to be only so many (here) that have gone through with it...And as much as I've abused the search function, I haven't been able to find pictures of a factory EG recraft, or factory recraft of an English shoe of any make.

I'm actually looking forward to my first AE factory recraft, but I suspect it is still some time away. I have no idea where I'd send my English shoes for a recraft.

greekgeeks, nice Alden boots. What is the last for the black boot? The toe shape looks good, but it doesn't look like a Barrie or Plaza last.

I've had several Church's recrafted at the factory. Always been impressed with the work done. On the last pair which went in at 10 years old , they put new toe puffs in, new insoles as well as of course a new sole and heel. They polished them up and sent them back to me with new shoe bags too.

Not had any of my EGs recrafted yet but will do when the time comes

So, I'm scrolling through this thread an my wife sees these shoes. She instantly states "those are sexy." Followed by, "that's the kind of thing I would think about until I bought it." My wife is far more conservative about $ than I.

If the wife thinks they're sexy, I must ask, how does the Truebalance last compare to the Barrie last for size.

Sorry to brig this up again, but I really want to know about their origin... I'm sure any of you gentlemen must know something about the maker or anything...
