    Cheers all :)

Yes very pleased with both pairs. Leagues ahead of many RTW in terms of workmanship / finish.

looks like a JL in part because the proportions resemble their William double monk boot and also because JL would do something crazy like that and then name it after an overrated city

I'm not 100% sure because this is the first time seeing that pair. I like that boot but it has too much going on. Brogue boot

    Alden
    C&J islay
    Trickers stow, malton
    Brooks brothers has a couple
Alfred Sargent via AFPOS has some nice models

Check eBay as their are always deal to be had. That Saint Cridpins boot that's being talked about was purchased on eBay by about 5 different guys ranging from $550-$700. I'd create a saved search

Speaking of the Saint Crispin utility boot, want to thank thinkderm for the heads up :fistbump:

I was recently at Leffot where I saw a few St. Crispins IRL for the first time. I was seriously impressed. Not only was the making visually perfect but the finishing was just stellar.

Gdot: I'm sure it's just a matter of time when a cordwainer or two can be tempted away from SC. It takes just one brave (or mad) enough entrepreneur to set up a shop and coax the makers in. We haven't seen the last of Romanian shoemakers yet.

Very unlikely to happen; there are bespoke/MTO shoe makers in Romania too, but they don't have the recognition or the global reach.

Well yes - one does expect super premium prices for super premium hand work. I'm pretty sure I'd rather drop $1600 on a pair of RTW St. Cs than on a pair of RTW Lobbs at the same price, however.

Although surely Vass is completely capable of equalling Saint C in everyway, including finishing, if asked, no?
