Might be worth asking Dean or Tony if they can get some and make an MTM shoe out of it. I hope stilmacher won't breach the fresh ceasefire now that I have mentioned G&G.

Here's a pic of iammatt's EG Rye in Birch as a token of peace from my side, Stilmacher.

I would either go for a reasonably plain oxford, maybe Chelsea or Berkeley, or I would choose the Kingsway ... a model that I love and that happens to be quite rare. Then again, a Ladbroke would look nice in that color too. Ladbroke is always nice ... maybe the prettiest EG altogether.

Oundle, yes. Shannon, no (for me). I would get Shannon in Edwardian (and in fact hope and expect to) but no ligher. It just seems too "substantial" for the very light colors.

+1 A boot does not really look authentic in a delicate color like Birch. The Oundle is IMO not a good choice. The design falls short of the design of other, similar shoes. A MTO Lobb Vale or Jermyn II in Cashew will IMO always look more elegant.

As hashed out in another thread, yes, Jermyn II is nicer looking, but Oundle is for me a safer choice.

Well, isn't that better than the maxim of a previous generation:

Through (adopting) the German characteristics, the world will recuperate.

To clarify, EG will only use birch and maple as contrat hides with Malvern III, no more shoes fully made from either.

Something I never knew I couldn't forget. I never made the connection. What an honour! I "contributed" to the worlds largest Ed Green collection.

For some reason I also believed you were British.
Your antiquing looks amazing. Unfortunately my pictures of that Ed Green lot weren't very good.

How similiar is JL cashew to the EG birch? Looking through some of the pics, they appear very close.
