Does anyone know anything about the Lowndes monks here? Are they made by C&J? If so, I can get these for $100 cheaper than the C&J Lowndes with their discount code. I've sent Shipton an email but havn't received an answer yet. I remember someone posting that there is a Crockett & Jones label on the bottom on these shoes but can't seem to find the post again. Thanks.

I think they are. That definately looks like a 348 last. Shipton and Heneage were selling a double monk that was made by cheaney, but they looked a bit 'blobbier' than these.

Thats not quite true as quite a few are Alfred Sargent too depends upon the model. Just ask James at S&H hes very imformative and very forthcoming with information on who makes the shoes for them. Very decent firm to deal with

Ok, but a shoe marked "Lowndes" would clearly be C&J

Entero, why is that? Is that because C&J won't resole them because they are not labeled as C&J?

Who cares about resoling. Just send them to B Nelson. He just did my C&J Alex and he probably did just as good, if not better of a job:

You don't need the original last to simply resole a shoe, only if you are rewelting and also replacing the insole would it possibly make a difference.

I contacted Shipton about their cap toe oxfords and this is what they told me:

Fitzroy black oxford: made by C&J
Skye black oxford: made by Cheaney
Almond black oxford: made at their factory in Italy (no brand specified)
