Still beats driving some piece of crap Lexus, or some other ugly and lousy build quality "luxury" American car. Even leasing a Ferrari, Italian trash mobile and Porsche, Mercedes, etcetera. Just does not appeal. Silence is golden and at stop lights you cannot hear the engine running. Big plus living part time in Vegas, Valets leave your Rolls parked up front. Zero wait time when you want to go is a huge plus. Another if you want VIP hook ups at Casino's. Rolls tailored Ermenegildo Zegna (only clothing I wear) They take you seriously, same with LA. O.k Texas Rolls owners, well make owning my car a little less appealing........ Its really not a car, Breitling, Cartier, vs no class Rolex!!!!

Nice first post, welcome

Vintage or new RR - they are purchased with an aim to connote or confer status. Of the worst kind. What other more visible manifestation is there of excess? Big home? You have to invite your friends over. Diamond Rolex? It's hidden under your sleeve.

I'm on a roll :>) here. There cannot be a more public way of displaying your crassness than a RR. I cannot think of one. Period. In a few minutes in a RR you can buy gas and be seen. Park in front of 'La Escargo' and be seen. Drive up to the valet at the Hilton-nada and be seen strolling out.

You can wear Victorian platinum links, Mattuozzo shirt, A&S single button suit, Lobbs, Hermes tie, ascot, riding breeches, ostrich and croc turn up shoes - these are all private indulgences and pleasures. Nothing, and I emphasize - nothing - sends out the broadband signals that a RR does.

Discuss further.

You are just making more blanket statements about people you do not know but desperately envy.

I agree with the other poster that your post gives insight to your low socioeconomic standing and likely poor education. You talk about Lobbs and rolex with obviously no background information in either or the reason why many people choose to buy these products.

I liked this thread better when you were hiding for 3 pgs from your initial post.

Not hiding. Just reading all the opinions. Keep 'em coming.

B) It seems quite clear you've never driven or been driven in a Rolls Royce. The comfort of walnut trim, connolly leather and an incredible smooth, quite ride with spacious interior is a completely private luxury.

Maybe it would be better to get a common white van and have the interior re-done to be less conspicuous?

Wow you pompous asses. Ad hominem FTW.

FWIW, Mustapha has a kickass vintage watch collection, if my memory serves correctly. Doesn't seem "working class", have "low socioeconomic standing" and "poor education" to me.

The proclivity to egg or key someone's car is pretty low-class.

What, kids who mess around are considered "low-class" nowadays? And attacking others over nothing but hyperboles is pretty weak.

OP here.

Hi whacked
thumbs-up.gif
Thanks for the bit of support.

What is going on here now - arising from my 'hyperbole' - as you have so perceptively put it - is a clash of personal value systems. The ad hominems can follow from that. I don't mind so much ... some people do it unintentionally. Haven't been threatened yet at least.

And I did ask for discussion.

RRoyce wouldn't sell cars if they didn't appeal to so many wants. Vintage RR owners wouldn't gather if there was no attraction in the ownership experience.

I won't reword my argument as it hasn't changed. I'll only add that RR cars can also repel; as in my case.

Kids who mess with other people's cars are certainly low-class. I don't know how you could argue otherwise.

Then you probably don't like children too much. More power to you.

I like children just fine, but I will damn sure do a better job raising my kids.

Harmless ******* around is fine; messing with other people's property is not. That's a mistake they would only make once.

I did a lot of bad **** and got in trouble when I was a kid but I never keyed people's cars because my parents couldn't afford one.

Couldn't help playing the "you hate on RR, so you must be low-class" card again?

BTW, I just looked over Mustapha's watch Appreciation pictures a few minutes ago and realized he posted on TimeZone as Jeff Low. I knew I saw his watches somewhere else.

Dude has a Audermars Piguet Royal Oak Date Jumbo in SS. That's half of a vintage Rolls Royce right there.

It has nothing to do with what you can afford or not. My parents didn't have a Rolls Royce, but I also knew that you don't destroy something just because it's out of your league. It's about upbringing. Yea I did a lot of dumb ****, but someone would actually have to do something to me to make me want to destroy something of theirs. Driving around in a stately old car, not bothering anyone, definately wouldn't warrant ruining something of theirs.
