Ripped jeans problem!!

Hey, so i'm new to this forum and I need some help. I have slim fit jeans and while i was trying to put them on my toe pierced a distressed area around the knee and the jeans had a bad rip in them. It's like an upside down L and they don't look good when i wear them. So is there a way that i could rip them back to shape? Or should I just sew them and see if it works? Thanks in advance :)
