I love the fit of N&F shirts. Small is so slim and cut perfectly! So I picked up the selvedge chambray [IMG] and a 34R sterlingwear peacoat (black)

Not a fan of the shape of the toe, and the thick soles seem out of place to me.

I got them for rainy/colder weather wear, so the thick combination Dainite/leather sole should work for its intended purpose. The shape of the toe is a first for me, so we'll see how it pans out in person.

there seems to be a bit of hip flare and maybe you could have sized down as the thigh looks kind of loose

True, the tighs are a tad loose... But it's really minimal. I couldn't size down more... Size 26 would have restrained my knees and kept me from moving. The size I took was already painful, as in, denim-cutting-the-flesh-from-the-back-of-my-knees painfull. It's a slim fit in my opinion, though not skintight.
Must say that they were a little tighter in the tigh area when I first got them. Maybe they stretched a bit due to constant wear.

About the backpocket positioning... To each his own. I like them when they are a bit lower. I think it's part of the model too. Because, even if I wanted the backpocket to sit higher, by pulling the waistband up it can't be done because of the short rise.

The sizing looks great. Looks to be what mine were after a few good wear days. That's what you'll really end up with - these don't stretch much. The mild pain should be gone now, I'm guessing.

Back pockets look great. I'm with uncontrol on the anti-anti-fit, but these jeans really tell you how to wear them.

The fit has improved in terms of wearability... No more hurting in the area behind the knees during normal movement. Though, when I decide to squat for whatever reason, it's still a bit painfull.

It was stiff as hell when I first got them, now they softened up a bit, though not completely... But it's getting more comfy every day.

Even if I could wear a size 26, I wouldn't have chosen it... I like a slim fit, but skintight is something I don't like. Skintight makes me feel like a girl.. Since the denim doesn't stretch to much I'm very pleased with the fit right now.

yeah, shoes.com is the only place i've seen that names them "AS special" though. Even the john varvatos website doesn't call them the "AS special".

website pictures suck fyi... lo res pieces of shit. The actual shoe is much nicer.
