Amazing. Would you mind what Harris Tweed cloth # this is. And how many meters would one need for lets say 42R?

Always check with your tailor first, but 2-2.25 M is generally sufficient for an average jacket.

time for another installment of....... JEW LAW 101!!!

it is a biblical prohibition to wear a garment containing both wool and linen, aka, shatnez. the collar underling of almost every single high end italian suit is made of linen, thus making it a no go with a wool suit. even with a jacket made of cashmere, angora, mohair... or other goat or camel fibers that are not wool, and can be mixed with linen, the felt/melton under the collar is almost always wool (though on some very deconstructed jackets there is no felt/melton at all) and thus is a no go with the linen underneath.

the simplest way to deal with this, and how my tailor does it, is she takes off the felt/melton, removes the linen underlining, places it over a piece of cotton underlining and uses a razor blade to trace the shape of the linen underlining on the cotton, and puts the new cotton piece back under the collar and then puts the felt/melton back on.

you need a good tailor who knows how to do this or it can throw off the collar or make it ripple, but my tailor knows whats up.

Wow, I'm gonna print that off, stuff in my pocket and recite around the bar at an opportune moment sometime soon.

Glad I came to school today. :nodding:
