    What's your chest/waist measurement? You're just a touch shorter than me but I don't think I could ever get to 200 lbs lean natty.

    Competed in my second powerlifting competition yesterday. R.A.W United federation, 220 Open (weighed in at 218), Ironman Belt division (belt only, no wraps/sleeves). I'm working on getting the videos from my buddy's phone.

    Squat
    1st: 375 - Good Lift
    2nd: 415 - Good Lift (3 lb. PR)
    3rd: 425 - Good Lift (13 lb. PR)

    Bench
    1st: 365 - Good Lift
    2nd: 285 - Good Lift
    3rd: 295 - Miss (Got it half way up but couldn't lock out)

    Deadlift
    1st: 520 - Good Lift
    2nd: 565 - Good Lift (3 lb. PR)
    3rd: 575 - Miss (Legs were dead by this point, really had to grind out 565 and didn't have much left in the tank)

    Overall I increased my total by 15 lbs. to 1275, so pretty happy with the results. Been running 5/3/1 BBB for a while now. I like the progression built into that program, but it's starting to get stale. Any recommendations for something to switch to from here? I was looking at Candito's Strength Program or the Cube Method but not sure yet.

    Congrats on the meet result. Very solid numbers imo.

    I personally would not do the Cube Method. It lacks in frequency. Candito's strength program seems better in that regard.

    However, I am biased towards Sheiko. The Sheiko programs just goes into way more detail and has a ton of real science and years of coaching experience with thousands of athletes put into it, not to mention Boris Sheiko himself used to coach the Russian IPF team. Russia is still the country with the most powerlifters at the top level if you don't account for multiply and they still train in a way similar to the Sheiko programs. No offense to Brandon Lilly's or Candito's work but you simply can't compare them to Boris Sheiko, imo. My coach uses a lot of typical Sheiko programming methods and I've personally had great success with it so far.

    Am I supposed to be adding weight to my max between each cycle? I read somewhere adding 6.25lbs each month is ideal.

    I don't think you're supposed to add anything until your new maxes have been established.

    However, I have heard people adjusting up the their maxes once the workouts feel "easy". I know that some people run with inflated Bench max. Read more on the topic here: http://sheiko-program.ru/forum/index.php?topic=335.0


    Have in mind though that you should never lift to failure on a program like Sheiko. It should never be a question whether you will complete the lifts or not.
    It is not "Max Effort" work like in Westside programs where you regularly work up to 90%+, nor does it work like Stronglifts 5x5/Starting Strength where you add weight to all lifts until you fail. You never do AMRAP like in Wendler 5/3/1. With those kinds of programs lifters that are not longer beginners tend to push themselves too hard, beyond what is necessary to get gains, with worse technique as a result. Sheiko works by going "just heavy enough" often and with large volume. The gains are just as much from technical perfection from the large volume with medium heavy weights as it is by muscular growth. Technique is best practiced in the 60-85% range and not going to failure. Reason I say this is because I've seen people who do Stronglifts and their technique just get worse as they get "stronger" but also those who do Sheiko but don't pay enough attention to perfecting their technique.

    So you might survive running it with inflated maxes but I'm not sure if its needed to get the same PRs at the end. I think you can get equal PRs by going a little lighter (using your real maxes) since it allows for better technique. From a personal view, most of the work leaves me with anywhere from 2-5 reps left in the tank at the end of the set.
