Turns out that lower back pain was my SI joint all out of alignment (saw a sports med doc). No squats or deads and a couple months of PT :/

Haha, he was probably ashamed and couldn't be bothered with unloading a couple of plates between every set.
Same thing has happened to me a couple of times DLing, although I'm basically still at the "novice" level according to this: http://www.exrx.net/Testing/WeightLifting/DeadliftStandards.html [IMG]

Couple months of PT for an SI joint out of alignment? You might want to get a second opinion. Some doctors are shady and just want to charge shit to the insurance companies.

I had my SI joint out of alignment a couple times (very common if you lift heavy often). I went to my chiro, he popped it back into place and I was deadlifting heavy the next day.

He said 4-6 weeks. I'm planning to go to at least one PT session and see what he says, then see if I can do it on my own, so I'll def keep that in mind. Doctor is trustworthy though it's a really good clinic.

Yeah, that's totally what happened. Never happened to me before, though. Martin gives these numbers for levels of "advancement":

I don't know how I feel about them, they're not that heavy.

Really interesting stuff about how breathing affects mobility.

Oh yay elite pull ups woo. To be fair the exrx elite levels are not meant to be the same as elite powerlifting lifts. Their definition is
"Refers specifically to athletes competing in strength sports. Less than 1% of the weight training population will attain this level."

Less then 1% of 198lb guys will ever squat 505

Uni started again, forgot all my calculus over summer, needed to relearn integration by substitution and all the weird trigonometry identities. First class is on laplace transformations, such a bad feel.

Same here. There's a big link between breath and strength/mobility. It's just the boringest fuckin thing to work on ever. I have a decent breathing pattern, at least I've been told by therapists but I've seen some people that have jacked up patterns. Am I weird that while standing in grocery lines I inspect people's posture and breathing patterns? haha

haven't had the pleasure of working with these that much due to my field but they do provide some great feels.

exrx standards are pretty weird. In my vocabulary what 'elite' stands for is top 10-15 nationally.

Of course not. But actually knowing it pretty much is for most people.
