not sure if counts as space, but Gurren Lagann was awesome (though Trigun is always #1 for me). Maybe also check out Outlaw Star. I am not up to date on anime.

If we're talking Gainax then Neon Genesis Evangelion is a must.

The older I get the more I dislike Eva. These days I try not to watch any clips or episodes and just try to remember how cool and philosophical it was to 12 year old me

    Memories.

Let me know if you can't find it and I'll mail you a USB. It's short, though, but the animation is really interesting. Not nearly as contemplative or character-driven as CB though.

+1 for Gunbuster, Diebuster, Gurren Lagann, Macross Frontier and Sidonia no Kishi. Mushishi is also sublime and definitely worth watching.

Also want to add Terra E which is full-on space opera if you like that sort of thing - I really enjoyed it - and Kaiba which is a space mystery/romance. The latter is also probably one of my fave animes ever, I recommend it to everybody :D.

For real? Lad Musician? I will admit that I have actually avoided that brand cos the name is so terrible. Although the only place I really see it is Ssense.
But yeah, does it means lads as In men, or Australian teenage wannabe gangsters with air max 90s and polo/nautica hats? Or Chavs decked out in Burberry who play saxophone on the weekend?

I'm surprised people don't like the names of Band of Outsiders, Wings and Horns, Opening Ceremony. I thought all of those were cool, especially the first two.

Lad Musician, Foot the Coacher and Cheap Monday are the worst. Want Les Essentials goes without saying. There used to be a brand called Shades of Greige or something. Then I saw a brand called Shades of Grey. Maybe they wised up because the former was just absurd. Or maybe it's two different brands, dunno.

I always liked Our Legacy. Undercover is an awesome name, but still runs into the searchability issue. Grey is the worst though. Try and find a Grey sweater on google.

there is hope, though, for all the SEO-challenged brand names out there. type 'seven' into google and the first result is the fincher film. get famous enough, and your ill-advised uber common name might end up working out after all. it's a kind of gamble, really.

defending my thesis tomorrow, shit is sort of scary. Planning to tackle that by wearing comfy black OL silk shirt and some equally comfy pants, wonder if that will be considered academic sacrilege .

With fashion brand names, how dumb you think it is kind of depends on how much you can tolerate some pretentiousness.

Lumen et Umbra: light and dark in latin? Pretentious as hell. But I still like the name.

Really it seems the only foolproof path is to have a really awesome/mellifluous name and just call your lable that. Rick Owens, Carol Christian Poell, Stephan Schneider, Peir Wu, etc.
