ASW once had a blog post about a guy who would buy bespoke shirts ten at a time, but then mess them up and stuff them in laundry bags before taking them home. Just so he could pretend to his wife that they were old.

Kind of makes me think -- if the woman ever looks at old pictures of her house, she must wonder how all those closets got so full when her husband never buys new clothes.

"Well, all of my other boots are shell cordovan with leather soles, and I can't exactly wear them in the snow, can I?"

I'm usually proactive and put the shirt on in front of her and say "What do you think of this shirt? I don't think I've actually worn it yet."

All hang tags are burned and order confirmation emails deleted.

lol no, Steiff is a very well knnown and well regarded mill..they are used by tons of luxury brands, and they made teddy bears for the Austrian aristocracy decades ago.

I really like the a kind of guise stuff I've seen, glad to see them growing. sort of a terrible brand name though, always makes me think of that dude here who used to buy tons of lanvin and post his barneys receipts...what was his name?

Just came across some Steiff bears from the 20's at my parents house, along with a letter from JFK to my dad for winning the soap box derby. I won't part with the letter but those bears are good as gone if they're worth what I'm seeing online.

Yeah man. Those things, even brand new ones, are really expensive. There is a toy store in Ballard, near where Balckbird used to be, that sells those. I always make sure to steer my kids away from that section of the store. I can imagine what vintage bears, in good condition, must be worth to collectors.

I saw Glenn O'Brien ordering a sandwich in Soho(?) last week. He was wearing APCs, tucked blue and white striped shirt, and I think maybe white sneakers. Looked pretty cool. No grey though. Would have said hello if the opportunity presented itself, but it didn't, so I didn't. Sandwich was okay.
