Yeah, kinda hit or miss, and even the hits aren't really for me. But if it's of interest one of the founders is Jon Buscemi, of the brand Buscemi. Some context: http://www.forbes.com/sites/alextaub/2013/10/03/greats-is-building-the-next-great-footwear-company/

Feel like it's a really good idea that just doesn't come together all the way (the design is lacking in my opinion), but maybe worth keeping an eye on.

yeah, i'm still waiting for the fashunz startup that I can unequivocally say has great designs. maybe all the good designers have cushy positions in established companies and don't want to leave

Yeah, after visiting the site, I think I'll pass on buying anything from them.

I know this has been beaten to death, but after browsing some old threads ... I miss thumb comments. :(

Debating getting another pair of Visvim sneakers, or maybe boots. The price is definitely right, but I have a pair coming already, plus I just commissioned a belt. Decisions, decisions.

A bit of a false dichotomy, but... right now. If I like it, I get it. I assume that my personal tastes will evolve a bit. But what you like is a function of your personal experiences, and it's impossible to predict how you'll be in 10 years, in any meaningful way. I mean, ten years ago, if someone were to tell me what I'd be doing today, and everything that has happened in the past ten years, I'd ask for whatever they'd be smoking.

That said, it's not like I buy something thinking that at some point in the future, I'll be completely over it.

Related, in a hilarious turn of the usual Styleforum event, I sorta want to get a pair of Alden chukkas, and I don't know my Barrie size, so I'll have to extrapolate that from my Viberg size...

I got into the game late 2009. For about 2 years I bought a lot Epaulet, BoO, Rogue's Gallery, etc. None of that lasted, so my oldest clothing pieces now are probably around 3 years. It matters a lot to me how long things will last, one of my problems with Schneider shirts was that I felt like they were going to disintegrate in a month with my lifestyle. My oldest piece is probably W+H x Dayton boots I bought from Farinelli's (lol I loved that store so much back then) and an Our Legacy shirt I bought at Mr Porter's first sale that has faded about 10 shades lighter. Love that thing.

At this point, I don't think my tastes will change too dramatically so I always buy with the intent of keeping it for a long time. I feel like after 5 years of experimenting through many looks, the only aesthetic change I can see myself having is towards MC due to work stuff, but otherwise I think I'm set

My parents are friends with the family that owns Mama's (they own a few other restaurants as well), but the best places to get pho are in Milpitas/San Jose.

Yes, just last week actually. They had been sitting in my closet for a year with a ruined leather sole that I had been too lazy to get resoled. I just said fuck it and did a full resole, replacing the leather with this corded rubber sole and heel. The leather soles weren't nearly durable enough for what I wanted to do with the boots-- fuck them up hiking, running around, not caring, etc. They're still kinda uncomfortable after a day's wear, but I like the silhouette too much

Enough with the food talk, use the random food thoughs thread instead.

I have Paul smith sweater in chunky cabelknit from aw07, I wear weekly during the colder month.

I have a was once black Lacoste polo, which is at least 10 years old, if not more, that I wear from time to time in the summer time.
