probably different in japan but in the US APC is priced on the lower side of mid tier brands. in that playing field, most competitors are a bit more expensive and not often any better made. design/interest is a completely different subject.

i'd say our legacy is slightly cheaper but basically of the same, sometimes better and sometimes not so good quality. acne is pretty much a wash. patrik ervell is more expensive and higher quality. etc

edit- all of this is really just generalization. prices also fluctuate. how our expectations line up with our experiences of these clothes always makes the "quality" discussion a wild goose chase. my point in trolling this conversation is to try to get some people to realize this.

I like APC. I still wear some shirts bought 5 years ago, the fabrics are usually solid, but the fits are the main strength of the brand. Granted I've never paid full price for anything there, but for half price on sale at the end of the season, I've never been disappointed.
Compared to Gitman's peculiar fits and Uniqlo's mediocrity, I have yet to find a better option for a similar product.

Dunno, I would go with Epaulet or WvG for button down type shirts over APC (at anything close to retail) every time. Kamakura for work basics. Some decent Margiela shirts go on sale for less than APC retails for.

For $15 more Japan blue denim is a lot nicer IMO. I had 2 pairs of apc and they were super thin. Though they weren't bad.

So to be clear, we're measuring quality of jeans by thickness of the denim?

let's keep it on topic...original Q was regarding APC shirts (and comparables), not denim

    ^lol

Not really just made an observation. The Japan blues have outlasted apcs by far. They also shrink less and fade better.

^I think it is pretty nice, eyes have to adjust to all the white now that was black before

On another note any recs from you guys regarding Dopp Kits? Looking for a nice leather one (and yes I missed the boat on the only Margiela one I've seen)

Only reason to buy APC denim is for the fades.

how did those 3 get grouped together Albam is a good bit cheaper than APC and their quality is better, their last couple collections have just been boring as hell and Cabourn is 2 or 3x the price.

I was at a show last night (Daughter, who were amazing) and I swear the smartphone usage gets worse every time I go to a gig. This chick next to me spent a couple songs talking loudly to her friend about workplace "drama" like her boss not giving her the shift she wanted, then used the next song to browse Instagram/Facebook/text AND google maps. I'm used to annoying crowds, but the fucking 5" screens are making it harder and harder

tl:dr: Millennials, get off my fucking lawn

rft: APC shirts size somewhat slim as per my experience, and I hate how their point collars stand out, but quality-wise they are a decent proposition. And that stuff is fairly easy to find when the sales hit.

I forgot how annoying it is when the hype machine blows up a budding designer. Some shameful shit going on in the John Elliott thread.
