The Pride of Baltimore II decided to stop in the Magothy River on its way back to Baltimore the other day so I took the boat out and shot a little bit:

Well, went out for lunch today and had my camera handy. The gardens were really damn impressive: [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Not really, I've experimented with a few but never really found much practical use for them in the type of photography I do. I understand the results of using one can really be great though, I may have to pick up a few if I ever find some that I like. It seems like the colours in some of my photos appear as though I am using a filter, though; this shot was done with no filter, freehand through a parking garage railing:

I still can't really figure out where the gold tint came from, there's no yellowish lighting at the terminal at Dulles. Some of the other pictures I've taken came out with more of a white colour.

    Do you post-process?

Personally, I wouldn't bother worrying about filters for different types of outdoor lighting since you'd have to know the type of lighting to get any benefit.

More useful are neutral density filters to help curb blown highlights when shooting during the day. They help you get more even exposure. I have some ordered for my lenses. I'll probably get a polarizing filter as well.

Lucky Strike I really like that photo.. really wish it wasn't blurred, though on second thought, the picture really does benefit from the motion. Perhaps a reminder of the ephemeral nature of life. Hahaha. [IMG]

JB play around with your white balance if they're coming out yellow...or don't, they look great...I prefer a warmer hue for night shots, otherwise the pictures come out looking like a gray, rainy day
