Although I'm not a fan of the look, it can be functional. This past weekend I popped my collar to protect my neck from the sun.

+1 ~ It can afford some protection from the elements. Beach, sports, etc...

That douche seems quite content with his popped collar.

I'm just still at a lack of understanding as to why in the hell the designers would STILL promote all of this bullshit..

...which is exactly what Mr. Lacoste had in mind when he designed it.

As others have said, I think it's okay to pop it up to protect your neck from the sun, but only then.

It gives me comfort and some wind/sun protection. Same goes for jackets or coats.

On a polo? My friend, get some sunscreen and a jacket.

Ohh, did it in the '80s. Major offender. Never do it now. May do it if I am getting a massive redneck.

I thought it was redicelous back in the 80's when everyone was doing it. Now that people are invoking this trend once more it has become even worse than before. I say let old habits die hard and wear teh shirts as you bought them collar down.

I am old enough to remember the 1980s the first time around, I don't need a flashback. The collar on the polo shirt stays down.
