Because these actors don't have training in staged combat, nor do Hollywood directors have lots of experience in this area.No other reason that fits into the story. It's not like they practiced and did nearly a hundred takes for months on end to pull off something that looks even close to these; that would eat up the budget.

Or maybe it was just really damn hard to track a lightsaber at high speeds with 1970s technology

As an expert LARPer, the the swordfighting in that asian clip is bogus. This is somewhat realistic:

Thank goodness for that. I have no doubt that scene was meticulously choreographed and rehearsed, but it was hokey, unconvincing, and irritating to watch.

Movie is about how back in the day Swedes invaded us and almost conquered, you know before they turned into a bunch of cucks

A thousand Swedes ran out of the weeds, chased by one Norwegian.

Meh. Caring less and less. BB-88 looks like ****, and I expect it will occupy half the screen time. Gotta sell those toys. Why the **** would this series need more droids? ******* garbage.

I haven't bought my tickets for the new one yet, but I will.
In the meantime, I watched A New Hope and part of ESB over thanksgiving and just forced myself to watch a three hour fan edit of I-III to make sure I was caught up on basic plot points - the dialog in Ep. III is scary awful. If Abrams does a good job with VII it might be a good idea to go back and remake I-III so there is a decent version of the back story and Lucas's versions could then be trashed. There is a decent story to be told about the fall of the Republic, the rise of Palpatine and the turning of Annakin Skywalker. It is a pity it hasn't been done yet.

But it's a slight variation on something that's already been done better. Isn't that what you want???
