I like it. supports my assumption that TFA is deliberately nostalgia-heavy to basically serve as a Listerine for the Prequel trilogy.

Speaking of Finn, what kind of slice to the back knocks you out cold but doesn't kill you?

I guess that's a little nit pick for this movie.

Well sure. JJ won't publicly badmouth the prequels but he's said in several interviews that the nostalgia and re-using basic plot structure was done with purpose. To reconnect with fans of the OT and bring them back to the fold.

As I keep saying, now that they got this introduction/re-introduction out of the way they will feel much more free to do completely new things.

They should let JJ help out with the casting. Say what you will about his ST films, he nailed the re-casting of the characters.

He took a slice to the spine. He will be paralyzed. His character will survive, but he will wheel around like the first Davros of Doctor Who fame.

I wish it had ended with him being put in one of those medical tanks like they had in ESB. Would have been a cool scene and call back.

Yes, the movie needed more of those.

I think we're going to learn that Finn got knocked out because he had a bionic implant that would allow him to control the Boba Fett suit, which was damaged when he was cut. Just another of those supposed plot holes that turns out to be bunk, am I right?

Maybe they'll pull a Game of Thrones and have Finn be completely disabled/die.

Would Hasbro make a wheelchair-bound Finn Monopoly piece?

Maybe he could ride around perched on BB8's little head.

Nah, they won't put him in a wheelchair. They will give him bionic legs and so he won't have the force, but he will still be exceedingly strong....hence why he needs to work out more for the new movie.

Are people with bionic legs allowed to compete in the Space Olympics? Why wouldn't everyone just get super sweet robot bodies?

I feel like this young Han Solo movie is a mistake. I'm not 100% against the idea of them recasting these characters for Anthology films, but it's too soon. I'd have put that one on the backburner and done a few Rogue One style films first. Where we will get to explore some new characters within the framework of the history of this universe. Hold off on the Han Solo and even Boba Fett films till you have had time to prove yourself good stewards of the franchise.

Isn't part of the point of the Han Solo character that he was kind of an a-hole prior to the events in ANH? Do we really need a movie about him flying around and being a space douche with Chewbacca?
