Here is another video that shows a bit broader range of great tones.

Why did Foo sell it to you for?

Foo's would have been far too expensive for me

Thanks! I think I might swap out the plastic for some more aged parts (down the rabbit hole...), but it seems like a keeper! Has Lollar Imperials in it, which sound good but may lack balls, I have to experiment a bit.

I just sold a guitar I've had in my collection for ages but never played. So, now what to buy? :)

This is such a great time of year to buy. Tax time always forces people to part with equipment. It's a buyers market baby!

How are you getting along with the LP Jr? What would compliment it?

Thursday I was in Joshua Tree so we made our way out to Pappy & Harriets to see the Foo Fighters lead guitar player Chris Shiflett. He has a Bakersfield honky tonk thing going on that is a bit of a blend of roots and country rock. Great performer. So fun to see a great musician in a small venue (10 feet away).

Anyway, Chris was playing a Gibson Firebird I with P-90's, non-reverse later 60's shape. Great sounding guitar (love p-90's) and I would consider one except I can't warm up to a slider switch. I know it seems like a small thing but the switch is a no-go.

I have a LP Special. I am really enjoying switching between the Tele (Caballo Tono) and the LP Special. Different tone, feel and vibe but both play great. I considered a LPJr but am now thinking of something totally different, like a 50's Gretsch solidbody with DeArmonds. Maybe something like this....

I seem to be getting back into very early rock and roots music so having a Tele, a LP and a vintage Gretsch would cover just about all the classic 50's sounds.

The Harrison Gretsch is a great choice.

But if you want something pretty, may I recommend an alternative...

Ricks are fun, but I get bored with the chimey sound pretty fast. They are perfect for some songs but not as versatile IMHO.

I never played a late 50s Capri but I saw a Phil X video of one and it seemed pretty rad, and more interesting than your regular one trick Rick.

Phil X...there's a name I've not heard for a very long time. I saw him a couple of times in the 80s/90s in really small venues. Once with a band called Frozen Ghost and once with I think OLP who opened that night for The Tea Party. Is he still active?

Phil X filled in for Richie Sambora on Bon Jovi's tour when RS went into rehab.

I know him from his Fretted Americana vids. He's great, but these days I prefer Greg Koch's demo vids. That guys blows me away every time I see him play.

Buying expensive plastic to replace the slightly too pink plastic on my Historic.

    Les Paul people are insane.
