I should stop by to see then. I knew they closed down, but did not figure they would be selling off anything...

It's actually cheap enough that I could afford to but I'm in a 100yr ok house which predates walk-in closets, so there's just no room to do it in. Otherwise I'd be home measuring.... They've got some pretty cool, heavy duty items that would just rock in the right space. Sigh, but not I ...

It's crazy, I've never seen anything like it before - there's a company there who is hired to move everything out, sell it all down to the bare walls. One guy was buying some of the wall shelving in the men's shoe dept - the 10ft high slanted wood display shelves for shoes, said they were going home in his closet. I've just never seen a store being "cleaned out", interesting to see first hand. Ps they are wheel in and dealin too, buy enough and they'll negotiate it more.

One other thing, everything is custom. It's just not something you notice when the store is stocked, but when its empty to nothing but the fixtures, suddenly you see "wow, so that's what a 20' x 6' table looks like". Lots of supersized industrial items that go unnoticed when the store is stocked.

I unsubscribed from all of those sites a long time ago (Rue La La, Gilt, MyHabit, etc.). Product descriptions always sucked, wonky return policies, slow shipping, and poor customer service. Most of all, the discounts generally just weren't that great. I've had far better results with Yoox.

I did well on the few purchases I made. Perhaps the Vente-Privee sample sale (which starts tomorrow in NYC) will be used as a means to really liquidate inventory. Hmm.

Mostly junk left now but I showed up at 11 and picked up:

2 NWT white Borreli shirts. $30 each
3 pair of Wolverine 1,000 Mile Emerson boots for $35 each
1 pair Wolverine 1,000 Mile Latham boots: $35
1 chocolate colored John Varvatos wool jacket: $50
1 pair John Varvatos suede and cashmere lined gloves: $20
2 pair Portallano calfskin and cashmere lined gloves: $20 each

The real kicker was the $90 for NIB Panasonic LUMIX G camera kit (w/ extra lens). It's got nearly 5 stars on Amazon and is $399.

Brioni suits are going for around $1250 and SCs are sitting at $1000. Dress pants are $249 and casual $149. Ties are $99 and shirts were $199, IIRC.

I was there earlier today, the selections were pretty poor as most were gone, especially in smaller sizes. However, I do remember - there were a few tuxedos left in all sizes.
