Does the Big East still count as a BCS conference?

At the beginning of the year I'd have said yes. Now...not so much. It'd be quite the battle with Michigan, Michigan State and Nebraska all looking terrible at least once so far.

All is almost back to normal in college football. Alabama is at the top of the polls, Auburn lost, and Florida State lost to a team they should have crushed. Now if only West Virginia would lose. I'm so sick of ESPN blowing Geno Smith, get off your knees guys. South Carolina looks like they might be the only team in the SEC to challenge my Tide this year. Also, Florida and Notre Dame are nice surprises this year.

The Big Ten is the best conference in college football. The problem is that the teams are so good that they tucker each other out when they play each other. That's why they lose when they play out of conference. (You might want to point out that they sometimes lose games before the conference schedule begins. But that's because they practice so hard, knowing they need to be at their best to defeat their conference foes. Once again, the tuckering out effect is in play.)

Some news coming out that Aaron Murray found out that his dad had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer last week and, as a result, hadn't slept much before the big game.

Really serves as a reminder that football players are people too and that, at the end of the day, it's just a game.

I'm not certain, but I believe Georgia forgot to practice last week.

    :(

That's really sad. It's interesting that they mention he hadn't slept much. The commentators said something about him not sleeping in the days prior to the game, and they made a crack about how it was probably because he was worried about Clowney. I certainly don't blame the TV crew for not knowing about Murray's dad, but, in retrospect, it creates an interesting juxtaposition between football and real life.

The AJC had an article that said someone egged and TPed the house Murray and another player share. Regardless of what's going on in Murray's personal life, that's just disgusting. It's a fucking game, people.

It is sad how much the actions of a bunch of 18-22 year-old men affects the psyche of residents of college towns. I'm embarassed at how much it affects my mood.

The state of Texas covers some 268,581 square miles, and claims a population of 25,674,681.

I just don't want you to think you're alone in experiencing this phenomenon.

If that were the case, we'd still have Michael Bennett for the rest of the season :(

holy shit, Beno Cook died. I still remember him from way back in the day on ESPN telling us how Notre Dame was the best, all while his jowels would giggle along.

Sadly, I'll remember this about Beano Cook more than anything else.

I had to turn that game off and I'm not a Longhorns fan - it just wasn't interesting anymore.
