As far as I know, weltanschauung, has no negative connotations in UK philosophy or social science. I apologise if it can be viewed in this way. It is used to denote a 'world view', here and is not at all derogatory. I certainly didn't mean to cause offence. Best wishes, Munky. [IMG]

some more pictures of the cipresso boot i had remade. previous boot had a tear in the shell cordovan trickers agreed to remake the boot. big thanks to the shoe healer for being so accommodating and easy to work with

sadly, and unfortunately i may need to sell these. the 2298 last fits a little smaller than i anticipated. i asked for the boot to be made in a different size and the shoe healer was able to get trickers to agree it in a different size. so even though the box is marked in the size i wanted them remade to, the boot itself is marked UK 11 5 fitting, the same size as the previous boot. so sad because this pair turned out to be much nicer than the previous one

    Green shell makes me randy.

In New York yesterday I saw a guy with green shell loafers that he had polished with black polish to make an uneven burnishing effect. I should have asked who made them.

I rummaged through my boxes of polishes and various cleaners and came across Saphir Creme Universelle. I used it on my green Tricker's and it was really good. It buffed up to a nice, deep, shine and then the shoes survived a big downpour. Mostly beeswax and jojoba oil, it is liquid and leaves no white marks. I had forgotten how good it was. As for the red bits in this posting; I cannot account for them.

anyone interested in a trickers boot gmto on the 81 last or its soft square equivalent? in shell cordovan?

these two lasts are made with a "normal sized" welt whereas the country lasts are made on what appears to be a platform.

Oh yeah. Just for reference, the top pair is alden and the bottom 2 are Carmina. Heard back from Richard this afternoon and the Trickers soft square last in question is called 4537. Same last used for Piccadilly, Belgrave, Kensington and Mayfair.

I'm thinkin a navy or teak captoe cordovan boot would be teh sex

Here is the 81 last in cordovan to give you some reference, I really enjoy wearing this last. Something more formal than the 4444 and 4497

Now I would love to pick a pair on the 81 in calf. Just can't find many Trickers boots on that last. Its a damn shame because it is so nice. I enjoy all three lasts but if I am wearing slimmer pants or more formal pants it works well.

I have a pair of the Belgrave, they're nice. I think you're right about the teak.
