Well for starters, that fearsome defensive front court of Amare/Bargnani/Melo

Because it is the same team with Artest, a year older Shump, a more seasoned Prigioni and a healthy Chandler. Last year if Melo and JR weren't scoring, the Knicks weren't winning but now Woodson has a defensive oriented lineup option with Chandler, Artest, Prigioni/Felton, Shump and Melo to score.

my bold prediction: the NBA's Atlantic division will be similar the the NFL's NFC East - with every single team sucking.

    - i think the nets and knicks are dangerously close to imploding. they are relying on some pretty old players where two injuries can spell disaster.

the knicks look like a candidate for a bad chemistry issues on top of being already injury prone and old, especially if Carmelo starts getting antsy and hints he wants a trade, then passive aggressively forces one like he did with denver.

the raptors, celtics, and 76ers are in tank for wiggins mode.

well thats what everybody thought last season. although maybe it was a season long fluke (i think JR and kidd was hitting something like 40, 50% of their 3 pointers over a long period of time)

im excited to see how the nets will perform.

if 76ers and celtics are tank candidates, then by default raptors have a very small chance of wiggins. they have a solid roster and i think they even make the playoffs this year

but think about if they are are on the bubble nearish the allstar break... the chance to land the next big thing and Canadian native might be too enticing compared to having a roster where rudy gay is your franchise star. this isn't the NFL, there's a draft lottery, and a deep assed draft (something like 5-6 potential franchise/allstar caliber players) so its better to have some ping pong balls in there than none.

Just don't forget that everyone is a year older. And for the rest of the crew, that's not such a good thing.

It seems to be a theme in NY sports. A bit of a metaphor for the city, huh?

Although he wasn't playing the whole season, Kidd played a key role in NYK last year. I remember he gave the Knicks key victories in the playoffs with his defense.

JR Smith also went nuts until he started partying again and he disappeared and the Knicks had no one else to score and we all know what happens when the scoring is solely left on the shoulders of Melo, who also gets hurts every season and misses at least 20+ games. Not to mention Amare, who might as well be a waterboy at this point.

Felton looks fat again too.

^doc rivers is playing the LA media like a violin. he was one of the rare few boston coaches/star players who handled the boston sports media so well that even when he sucked (before the KG/Ray Allen trade) they left him alone because he was on such good terms with them.

plus if the lakers possibly land a franchise pick in the lottery, or if the lakers re-tool with key free agents next summer - he can jump ship again to the lakers and only have clipper fans angry anyway.
