So I'm headed to England in a couple weeks and decided my itinerary was worthy of a thread to document the adventure. Here's the plan:

Day 1- Land in Manchester. Eat. Drink. Repeat.

Day 2- Train to Carlisle to visit Steed Tailors. Get measured for something...no idea what. Follow up fittings to take place in SF.

Day 3- Football match with @Cleav , which is the primary purpose of the trip. Party. Hard.

Day 4- Train to London. Meet up with Harry from @hnwhite and view his collection of amazing ties. Meet up with @davesmith (Shaya) from Exquisite Trimmings at his shop and check out his goods. Mosey around Savile Row and check out as many places as possible.

Day 5- Going going back back to Cali Cali.

I'm not the longwinded type, so don't expect too much on that front, but I plan on taking lots of pictures. I can hardly wait. It's going to be awesome.

If I remember correctly you're a fellow United fan. Which match are you going to? Hopefully it's one at Old Trafford!

    Of course.

I don't know if I can squeeze it in. The trip is already pretty hectic. Maybe if I get bored in Manchester the first day I'll head there, but that's 4 hours on the train RT.

What are you brainstorming for a Steed commission?

SC...haven't spent much time looking at cloths. I'll probably just wait until I get there and pick something from the books on hand.

^ Do you have a color/weight in mind? Any gaps to fill in your collection?

Nothing over 11/12oz. Not sure about color...maybe a green or brown. I don't have a large wardrobe and don't plan on building one. I just want something that will get worn, often.

I only have three: navy birdseye, grey flannel, and tobacco fresco. Mr. 6 is the boss when it comes to Formosa.

    Some nice stuff. Thanks.

Go to Scotland. And Lake District. Both are amazing. If I didn't love London so much, next time I go to UK (in 3 years :-( ), that's probably where I'd spend all my time.

I could totally see Cleav curb stomping and flinging chairs in his immaculately tailored suit and red face paint...

I was in London in December and loved the new Anderson and Shepherd RTW store for cords, trousers, ties, pockets squares and knit wear. They are very friendly and the space is so well done.

Also, stop in at the Drakes store. It has a very edited look and also very well done. Check out their Made in Italy private label jackets, they are a good value.

Consider your fabric weight well before meeting Steed. It would be easy to go "a bit heavy" while in the cold and damp English countryside and then coming back to CA and never having a chance to wear it. When I met Bruce Boyer last week he had a Steed tweed jacket. That sucker weighed a ton. I'd wear it a couple days a year at best in CA.
