I have a fantasy of one day dressing head-to-toe in grey. Sadly, these aren't the style of grey shoes I fantasize about wearing. Perhaps a dark grey suede to match the dark grey flannel.

Can one really wear grey shoes in the Americas and not be cast out of decent society? Now, black ankle boots with grey spats - that's style.

What's interesting I think is that these exact shoes (or perhaps nearly identical looking light gray Lobbs) were on Ebay about 3 months ago. The opening bid was something absurdly low like $29. The pictures were crappy too. No one bid on it for days, until finally in the end a few people bid on it and I'd guess the final price was around $200 at most. I would bet that the winner of those cleaned them up, took some nice pictures and made up a nice typo-free description for a new EBay auction and . . . voila, you get $400+ bids on a pair of shoes that certainly don't look like Lobbs to me.

Well, like I said, it is only a fantasty. I will have to be content with the innumerable shades of brown. Of course, a dandy exists outside of society and can get away with anything as long as it looks good.

True, but those don't look good. Wretched, just wretched.

these are seriously one of the ugliest pair of shoes i've ever seen..only thing that would make them mre grotesque would be if they were in patent leather..obvoiusly the buyer (fififi30) really wanted them seeing as how he bid twice..sellers other shoes look normal..well if someone can bid $28,000 on ebay for a piece of a grilled cheese sandwich i would say that anything goes..just hope that fififi30 doesn't log onto style forum to offer any fashion advice [IMG]

Just so it is perfectly clear, I too consider these shoes to be horrible. A monstrosity. When I said I was fantasizing about grey shoes, I meant something elegant; which I alluded to in my first post,

Wow those are gross... I bet the winner of that auction didn't bid because he liked the shoes, but rather to have the priviledge of owning the ugliest shoes ever.
