I agree! It should also be thrown in that the ball chain on the chest pocket forces us to notice his nipple area. Is he trying to suggest that he likes nipple tassels?!?!?

No one should take what I just said, seriously.

Saw this at the Barney's Warehouse in upstate NY. Really cool sort of muddy terracotta color from Brunello Cucinelli. Timing just didn't work out for me. Someone got a good deal on it [was 85% off and roughly $1,000] and in perfect condition.

I'm kind of curious on people's thoughts on navy leather jackets? Perhaps from someone who has owned them and how they weather / age [granted I realize much of that would depend on the quality of leather and dye].

Thanks for all the inputs and advice guys! Really appreciate it.

In terms of style it's indeed premier half belt (not august.) My mistake!

I've tried more leather jackets locally and asked the experts in the store.

His advice: I need a jacket with wider shoulders (due to the width of my lats - my arms will always look like they're bowing and the wider shoulders will compensate for it.)

The waist also needs to be at least 2" smaller than the aero I'm wearing. This is because I have a big drop from chest to waist.

    Conclusion: bad fit.

That said, I've decided to keep wearing it for at least a month to see how it looks after it's completely broken in, and decide then. Might as well - since I can't return it (bought it online from someone who bought the wrong size.) LOL

Thanks again for all the responses!

Does anyone have any experience with Valstar leather jackets? Are they durable?

I've handled them. They are durable enough. They won't take a real beating, but... do you need them to?

I'm not going to be making any cross-country motorcycle trips, but if I am spending that much on something I want to feel like it will last me a while.

I am really digging the BOO or Band of Outsiders leather anorak I picked up a few weeks back. Made in Italy and it honestly has the strongest leather aroma of any item I have ever owned.

Still muddling my way thru leather jacket sizing. Any opinions from the learned members in this thread?

    Salutations,

If you don't mind, I have a Q to drop on you daddios. That is: Flat Head leather jackets. Thoughts regarding fit, finish, etc. I'm no expert and I have but a few internet pictures to go on, so I wanted to see if any of you have handled their leather goods and what your opinions are regarding those interactions. To be precise, I have been lurking on a leather biker for months now, but I knoweth not what signs to look for nor have I a frame of reference regarding the price point. I humbly request any insights you may have.

Oh and here's a link to that thing I've been blathering about: http://www.selfedge.com/the-flat-head?product_id=1413

    Thanks,

    i01111000v2

I've tried on that jacket. It's a very good version of that buco style. The leather is aniline from shinki, so it's the best of class for that specific style of tannage. It will, like all leathers like that, wear to show the underlying brown. It is. by design, NOT a dyed through leather like, say, an oil tanned leather.

On thing you should be aware of is that the jacket is cut extremely small, and the arms are rather short. I am 5'11" nad a pretty typical size 40. The size 42 in that jacket was tight and short throughout, with really short arms.

So, a really nicely done jacket that is not typically sized.

Flat Head leathers are absolutely first class in every respect if the design works for your style. The SE collab is the most stripped down of their DR jackets, definitely recommended.
