I am planning a trip to So. Calif. in December. A guy at work told me about strip malls in the La Jolla/ San Diego area off the main highway (5?) that are completely filled with thrift shops? And he found some incredible deals there (.). Does anyone have more specific details about the location of these shops as my friend is not very familiar with the area and he was being driven around that day. Thanks. [IMG]

If you are looking for a thrift store, then you should go to the Children's Hospital store in La Jolla. I have found excellent luck there when looking for items to flip on eBay - it's where all the rich people dump their clothes when the new season rolls in.

If you are talking about vintage/consignment stores, then I think your friend is talking about Hillcrest in San Diego. There are several.. at least 5 stores in Hillcrest, it's a couple miles north of downtown San Diego, you can get there by taking the 5-S -> the 8-E (1 or 2 miles) -> the 163-S, and exiting University Ave.
