I found the most peculiar thing when I was at TJ Maxx today. A shirt, striped and with buttondown collar, made by a company called "Jantzen Sportswear." Obviously no relation to the Hong Kong based Jantzen Tailor, but I found it pretty amusing and it made me do a double-take.

They're a pretty old company, though you don't hear much from them these days. I wonder how Ricky came up with the Jantzen name. Such an odd coincidence.

Jantzen is a historic brand of swimwear and sportswear.

They did good men's sportswear in the fifties, among other decades.

Egads! That site hasn't been updated since spring of last year.

I asked my mother. She believed that they derived it from their Chinese name, which means something like 'jiffy' or 'quick'.

Which, in this context, is one of the great all-time oxymorons, along the lines of military intelligence, etc.
