Like JJHunsecker above, I realized after navigating to Styleforum for the nth time in search of opinions and feedback about something I was considering buying, that it was probably time to join and contribute myself.

I'm a graduate student (anyone hiring TT positions in political philosophy??? Huh? No. Drat.) and am generally disappointed by the style choices of today's Professoriate. Work is work. I generally find myself attracted to sharp looking aesthetics that incorporate something of contemporary longer-term trends into generally classic looks.

Harold, that'd been done before I became a member. I must have neglected to mention the personal invitation. Oops.

Oops, didn't realize there was an introduction thread.
Basically I'm a middle aged guy who needs to get his wardrobe act together. All my research/googling keeps leading me back to here, so I thought I should just join and start asking questions directly.

I like to think I am too. Harold, I assume you are an attorney, live in NY, or both?

I love quality clothes and accessories, especially after living in Rome years ago. The $ must have been worth something then, because I was a frequent shopper at Brioni's on via Barberini. I'm not a frequent shopper of anything anymore, however. I'm especially interested in branding, especially after seeing so many copies of name brand goods in the Far East. I like to think that I am buying originals, but who knows? I've enjoyed reading your recommendations and opinions. Thanks to one poster, I've just ordered a wallet from Duret-Paris. It'll be a month wait, but I'm hoping for the best...
