Either she said "yes," and he's too busy hanging out with her to update us [IMG] , or she said "no," and he's still in bed sulking... [IMG]

Sorry for the lack of an update!

    I never did it [IMG]

What a load of crap..for the longest time I have been afraid of things that are so easy to the rest of world but get my heart beating faster and faster until I cannot bear it anymore. Any time I feel there is something thats big, and has a lot riding on it, I worry about it. I put to much thought into it...sometimes days in advance! Right before it takes place my heart races, I try to say "calm down, its goingto be ok" but it doesnt help. Ive tried a number of relaxation techniques, massaging techniques, any on-the-fly method that will bring my heart rate down to a normal level so I can go thru with whatever I need to do. This is something I NEED to do....

Obviously, sumoning up courage to do it and just "doing it" hasnt worked and im guessing will not work unless I find a better technique...but what? I used to be able to speak to myself and calm myself down, but that no longer works. If I go up to her in my present condition and get introduced to her...I will look very nervous, unsure about myself, etc etc.....that ruins the first impression.

    What to do?

Guys your age often come across nervous and unsure of yourself when approaching/talking to girls. They're used to it, and some even find it endearing. No worries.
Screwing up the first impression is worlds better than never creating one at all. One way, there's a chance she'll like you. The other way there's zero chance because she won't get the opporunity. You do the math.

So you mean that my nervousness is attractive to the opposite sex..or some of it at least? It's never like this with girls I know, but always like this with a random girl I see. I do need to do this, thats a given, even if horribly done....

Don't ask her to a porn movie and don't ask her to a kung fu movie.

Yes, that's what I mean. Not with all girls, of course, but certainly with some.

Some girls might find it cute to find out that you were intimidated by them. When I was 20 I was still super nervous (like wanting to nearly throw up/have a heart attack) being around my now girlfriend. Hell I only had been around her/met her 3 times before we kinda went on a first date. Before you really get to know the girl you will be nervous and its ok. Just go with it man

Between your adventures and those of JetBlue, I am getting a real primer in what it is like to have teenage kids.

Thanks again everyone for your support! Each day that goes by I get a step closer....I can feel it. I know when the time is right I will be able to do it. It's just that It's so hard to "meet" this girl without scareing her or having her think I am weird, since we have no classes together or any reason to bump into each other. hahah i dont know [IMG]

I've never really liked the be an asshole approach. I've seen it used and it does work really well for picking up women but for me I could never keep with it. It's not who I am and I wouldn't want to be faking it all the time. I find that just being a good conversationalist works great for me. If I'm interested in someone, I try to make eye contact and if I get that then I just approach them and start a conversation. I don't use any lines or any routines or anything like that. I know this probably isn't what you want to hear but the only thing that really helps is practice. You need to get to a point where conversation flows easily with almost anyone. You need to be able to direct the conversation to an area where you can add to the conversation such that you sound interesting or unique.

For example, I've spent a lot of time in the Canadian Arctic doing diamond exploration so I try to direct the conversation towards travelling where I can introduce my travels. Since what I've done is fairly unique and interesting, it immediately opens up a great topic to talk about.

    Hope that helps.
