5 miles this morning; 7:40 pace.
Clear sky! It was wonderful to see all the constellations. One of the many perks of an early morning run.

Wingin' It, pics please, and enjoy!

4.9 today...I must have had a "talk to me" face on today, cause all day strangers were coming up and talking to me. Doing crunches at Sunset Park, some Spanish dude came over and chatted me up about Southern Chinese Golden Fist Martial Arts, said he'd train me for free. His name is Eddie if anyone wants his number PM me...

Route to the park was filled with lots of this:

Cobble Stone and Trolley Tracks, love me some Brooklyn!

Finished up with Muscle Ups and Pull Ups at the Park by my house:

Saturday morning, 6 miles 7:30 pace Temp around 36 degrees, no wind. Perfect running weather. Well, I did wear a few extra layers and my wool cap, mittens, and smart wool compression socks.

    8 this morning. Beautiful day!

I have my first half next weekend. I was planning to run 6-ish Monday, 5-ish Wednesday, and then just a couple on either Friday or Saturday. Is that a reasonable taper?

Another 5 miles yesterday, knocked almost 5 minutes off my time from when I ran the same distance a week ago. Ran it in around 53 minutes last week, and yesterday I finished in 48:40. Gearing up for a longer run today.

Yes. I would even suggest a little less. Say, 4-5ish Monday, and 3-4 Wednesday, then maybe 3 on Saturday. Don't underestimate the importance of rest.

First day back from marathon recovery was yesterday. Ran too much. 9 miles.

Back in yoga diet hibernation mode for a few more days.

4.6. Aches and pains everywhere. Hoping this is related to the cold my wife so generously shared with me...

    Halloween taking its toll.
Great 18 miler yesterday to the top of the Coastal Peak. Really felt Easy despite my hangover. I think I am going to jump in a 50k for fun in December.

10 miles today. Another new record distance, I'm adding one mile to my long runs just about every week (one long run per week), until I get to maybe 13 miles. The 10 miler felt great, and I actually ran the 2nd half faster than the first half, which I didn't think I'd be able to do.

I don't know how old you or susceptible to injury you are, Beatlegeuse, but I've found that I'm able to add a mile to the long run each week as long as the other runs stay about the same distance. Going for too much additional mileage per week has always led to some sort of injury which sets me back further than if I'd just added that one mile per week.

Nonetheless, good stuff! Congratulations on the PR distance.

^ thanks! I'm 31, and about 2 months ago I tried adding too much distance too quickly, and ended up getting injured. I was adding like 2-3 miles per week (going from 3 mile runs to over 7 in under 2 weeks). I've definitely learned my lesson and I'm adding mileage much slower now. My other runs during the week are a lot shorter, usually around 5 miles, which I feel I can do relatively easily now.
